the memoirs of an international

I'm an Asian
living in VA
been here about 5 years now
with student visa w/o green card or citizenship.
I guess I'm gonna be considered as an international...

this sux... I mean really....

did you see admission rate for internationals?
I'm Korean and I know that Korea's top academies and high schools will
force these perfectly-made-for-Ivy-admission students.
Do I stand a chance at HYP (was thinking about applying as a real long shot) against these smarties from all over the world?
I don't think so...

can you apply for permanent resident? I think that's different from a green card and that means you're not an international anymore :).

Honestly? Most people don't get into HYP, no matter where they're from. You can always apply, but don't get too emotionally invested. That's true for anyone, by the way, no matter how high their stats are. It's just so unpredictable.

As for the international status, I'm in the same situation, and it's so frustrating. I've lived in DC for the past five years, but on a diplomatic visa. The only real advice I can give is to do your research, especially if you need financial aid, because it's so much more competitive for internationals and many schools don't even offer it.

azsxdc, I'm pretty sure permanent residency and green card are the same thing.
