PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.
LOL
As soon as I graduate, I'm moving to England.

Have you read Freakonomics. Its a pretty funny economics books, that relates theory to real life. I just finished it. It's pretty good. Besides that I can't come up with too much, I've been too busy with school work to read for pleasure.

German economy isn't going so great. Those kids are so crazy. I would lose my mind if I did that. And I thought I was stressed now.

That's a bit freaky. I was just about to ask if you read that yet in my last post. I havn't read it, but I've heard very good things about it also. I've read a few pages at a bookstore and it was actually pretty interesting. I love the front picture of the book. It's oddly really cheerful.

Still on the To Do List is Prince/Art of War.

I'd talk about American Economy, but I'm sure the whole world reads about it everyday.

I'm curious as to how do the International kids view the Iraqi War? Is it pro/con? Justified?

That is freaky. Its an awesome book- my economics teacher lent it to me. There's a great chapter on baby names.

I've been wanting to read Prince and Art of War for a long time.

We hear about the American economy quite often, probably because it is the biggest in the world.

Most people see the Iraq war as pointless and not justified, but also they see that the troops shouldn't just randomly withdraw and leave the country to civil war. Its like a lose lose situation.

Tufts, some good books I've recently read (though not pertaining to economics or current events) are:
Shadow of the Wind
Veronika Decides to Die
Battle Cry of Freedom
Curious Incident of the Dog...
The Kite Runner

Right now I'm working on Dracula and World is Flat.

What a concept. When you need a war in an oil-infested region, just create one! Iraq was a secular state with developed roads and hospitals, but now, it's a breeding ground for Muslim extremist terrorists! We must go in and never move out!

For all the propaganda CNN makes about how wrong it is for, say,China to invade Taiwan, Iraq is a recognized state in the UN: Taiwan is not. Should wannabe-superpower and potential economic threat China take back Taiwan, I'm sure it'll be a "global act of war" and "violent imperialism". Yeah, and when the U.S. illegally invades a UN-recognized sovereign nation, it's to "spread democracy", or "secure world peace". LOL.

BTW, I'm not accusing you, scarletleavy, of harbouring the above attitudes.

I support Iraqi war as well as war with Iran and Siria, I see as an educated man, that it will bring us relative peace. Taiwan is absolutely peaceful democratic state, there is no need to let China invade Taiwan, and develop empire.

I don't harbor that attitude. I was just pointing out what a lot of people believe, especially the overseas Americans.

I don't really know what to believe anymore.

Okay, say China becomes the next USSR and the relations between Beijing and Washington become really strained. If the U.S. uses Taiwan as a puppet state, and/or stations troops there, does China have the right to pre-emptively strike a nation that is a threat to their national interests?

But it won't happen. You can keep on playing more and more scenarios of what if, what if, but the chances of this happening are slim-none.

Taiwan hasn't been mentioned in a quite long time. It's becoming less and less serious.

Yes, I know. But it's a discussion about principle. People often talk about preserving global security, when it's only national security. If to secure the U.S., other countries have to be bombed, why is it wrong for another country to do what the U.S. is doing?

Ay! I hate the word "globalization." It brings about images of a "New World Order" and such.
