How's the food at MIT(I know we can never be satisfied etc etc ...)?? Can we cook on our own?? And generally, what's the distance between the board and first seat in a class??

Some dorms have dining halls, and others have kitchens for students to use. Since you get to pick your residence, if you are interested in cooking for yourself, you can choose a dorm with kitchens. (I cooked for myself most of the time I was in college, and I'm really glad I did, although I certainly did not start out as a very good cook.)

The food in the dining halls is fine, but it wasn't what I wanted to be eating every night. For lunch, there are a lot of good lunch places on campus, so that works out well.

MIT has a dining plan that's different from many other schools; instead of paying for a certain number of meals per week, students/parents put money into an account linked to the student's ID card (Tech Cash), and money is debited from the card to pay for food.

OK! So, that's grt! And what about the distance??
And is there one dorm better than other thing, or is it just about subjective preference? Is their competition?

What a recitation is. And don't quote me on it, but I don't believe Walter Lewin teaches in the traditional sense anymore.

There also isn't that much competition for front seats, from what I've seen, given you get a good enough view of what's going on from any seats in the first few rows.

Everyone is just telling you that you're asking really common, general questions about MIT that are answered elsewhere. Nobody likes answering them because they've been asked a bunch of times before. It's also kind of irritating that about half the posts in this thread are yours. This is otherwise known as spamming.
