The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

This is very similar to what I considered until kids did a 180 and put a deposit on a completely different venue. This is not black, especially in bright light. But my husband likes bright colors!

That is very nice and definitely looks navy, not black.

I didnā€™t even look at the price! Still like the dress very much but could be pretty pricey if there is a budget you want to keep to. My budget for a dress was $300 tops but I ended up spending much less for the dress for the wedding. But, also bought the rehearsal dinner dress, new shoes, etc. so it all adds up.

To me, itā€™s hard to really know what the fabric is like and how it falls until you can touch it and try it on. Shopping online makes all of that tougher. Many things look fine in photos but when you actually feel the fabric, itā€™s just not as nice as the photograph.

Yes, @HImom , I ordered about 8-10 dresses online last year. There were 3 that I ended up not even bothering to try on once they arrived-the dress fabric or color seemed different than what it looked like online. Just knew right away I didnā€™t really like it that much after all. Hope the dresses you ordered will work for you! Let us know!

I dipped my toe in this weekend. My DDs are not engaged yet, but both expect to be this year! Older DD and I were killing time Friday and browsed Dillardā€™s for MOB dresses. She was surprised to hear me say I needed to wait till she knew her colors as she hadnā€™t thought about me needing to coordinate or get approval. Anyway, I didnā€™t see anything that appealed to me but we only looked at the formal section. I probably need to look in less dressy departments.

Ok, now I have both the chunky pair and the pretty pair. I canā€™t decide, so Iā€™m keeping both. I like the bows better and will probably wear those for formal pics and switch to the sandals for dancing later in the PM. In any case, Iā€™m done shoe shopping.

Both are great!

Nice to be done, Iā€™m sure! Both look suitable and you will look perfect!

While I could never do the height (of either) I especially like the chunky sandal! Youā€™ll wear both with style.

Iā€™m eyeing chunky heel saddles for sonā€™s park (nature preserve) wedding/reception.

Wedge or block heel is absolutely the way to go if there is a lot of walking or standing on grass!

Well, the grey dress has light blue sequins so itā€™s way too sparkly for H and me and iā€™m returning without trying it on. I like the more understated royal blue with matching sequins that are less noticeable.

I like the bow ones better than these! They are more fun.

Or do you mean these that have the bows on the back?

I was picturing theseā€¦in navy. Easy to kick off for dancing!

The pale blue satin ones only come in that color. I like those a lot, too, but mules arenā€™t secure enough for me, and I donā€™t like the way the heels slap without a strap. So, though I love the look of them, they arenā€™t in my comfort zone for this particular event.

Iā€™m with you on the heel slap. Kills the joy! Mules with a mary jane style strap avoid that issue. Kind of like this (but itā€™s not everyoneā€™s cup of tea):

Then I like the one with the narrow heel and the bow on the back. I think it compliments your dress better than the chunky heel.

Agree. I plan to wear the bows for pics and the chunky heel later for dancing.
