<p>Bryn Mawr is Welsh for "big hill". There are some buildings on campus that have Welsh names ("Pen Y Growes", "Bettws-Y-Coed") and there are other towns in the area that have Welsh names -- not that the popular pronunciations we use are correct.</p>
