The new AF Chief of Staff

i heard that the new AF chief of staff is stopping the AF’s “reduction in force”. it sounds good, in my opinion, but i also know that part of the reason we did that was because we experienced serious budget cuts. so what are we going to do now? lower production rates? decrease technological research? maybe the chief of staff managed to get us more money. anyone know for sure?

Av8r don't expect much the new SecAf and AF Chief were selected to be yes men for Sec Def Gates. Gates has had the long knives out for the AF for a while, look at some recent comments from him. None of them can make any real changes because in less than a year they will be unemployed. In short they are warm bodies filling a spot doing whatever Gates tells them to do.

Don't expect much in the future either. You will likely see Wesley Clark and Merrill McPeak take prominent positions in an Obama defense department. They (IMHO) are two of the worst Generals in the last 40 years. Their job will be to crush any opposing opinion in the DoD and they will ruin careers. It is sport for them.

Don't expect anything from a McCain presidency either. First he has been hand selected by the dominent media to loose to Obama just like Bob Dole was selected to loose to Clinton in '96. Second (IMHO) my experience has been that every ship Captain thinks they should be president and could do better job then whoever is president. Works well at sea but I'm not so sure about the restof the world. Usually not a lot of tolerance for other opinions.

So no matter what I think it is going to be a tough few years until we get some real leadership.

great.. just until the time we graduate

McPeak...... enough said. I've heard generally good things about Gen Schwartz though (no pun intended).
