Thank you. I will pass that info onto my daughter. It looks like she will be compelled to push a number of the Gen eds up to later years. Hopefully she can graduate on time. Yes Mini, she has not approached the people yet you mentioned. She has been very busy with her classes, but I hope she will eventually get to see them, and I hope they will be more encouraging than the advisor and arts administrator!!! She hasn’t gone to the others, because she was so discouraged by her first attempts with the staff and administration and by the experiences of her friends.

"If that would mean your D has to transfer and you will not be posting here any more–I can only hope so!

CR, for months and months you have repeated your complaints about the Art Department, and everyone on this thread has given you as much advice as they can. It appears your D’s situation is still unsatisfactory. Students who find their colleges aren’t meeting their needs usually transfer, but apparently your D has decided she likes AU enough to tolerate the problems she is having with her course selections, and you have concurred with her decision by agreeing to continue to pay her tuition. You’ve made your respective beds by foregoing the transfer option, and now you need to quietly lie in them. There is nothing else to say, and no point in further posting on the same issue."

Bravo

FWIW, I have take to treating CR as a virus and hitting “Report Problem Post” every time CR infects a thread with her ■■■■■■■■. Perhaps if enough do that, she will be made to disappear.

CR: As many people have stated; there are plenty of manners to approach this issue, and there are many ways to solve it; however if you or your “daughter” do not wish to put in the effort to solve it and would rather whine about it on a public forum then that is just stupid.
Claiming to be too busy to go see an advisor is a BS excuse, and you seem to be running out of excuses and as OdysseyTigger said, if she was so unhappy she would have transferred already but still remains at AU, funny that…

The registrars job is to police the schedules, making sure the rules are followed so that UNQUALIFIED students don’t sign up for classes that they can’t handle. Professors and deans can overrule. Advisors can help get a prerequisite waived IF it is clear that the student is qualified (but it would still need the permission of a dean).

Mini:
I am referring to the special Studio Art and Art History administrator/ registrar. She does have clout. However, you are right. She needs to go to the dean or professors, if the others can’t help, and I have been pushing her to do so.

CR: Does your D get Financial Aid from AU… Just curious? You seem to be the type to find fault so no matter where your D went to school you would have something negative to say about it. Maybe because AU gave your D enough money and you know other school would not give so your D still at AU.
Please do not steer prospective students away from AU, there are lot more than happy students and parents who love AU. Either your D transfers or just stop this negative rantings!

Thanks!!
S did some traveling with friends, came home and worked and took some courses at an area college. He wanted to take a year off before starting college, I guess I should have listened to him!! He’s living alone, off campus and thrilled about that, after being tripled his first year.

Do you think the campus will close because of Irene??

My daughter is tripled as well. She had the option of detripling prior to her move-in date but turned it down at the time because she thought being crowded may be preferable to having a bad roommate. I hope she has the option to detriple again but this time, since she is on campus, she can meet her perspective roommate. So far she is OK with her living arrangement.

My D is a sophomore this year, serving as a PA for one of the University Colleges. We’re joking about it being “Natural Disaster” week at AU - next week…volcanoes!

My d. GRADUATED in the spring - in three years - magna cum, senior honors award as top accounting student. She’s using her fourth year to take an M.S. in accounting and qualify for her CPA. She had a fantastic, very high-paying internship this summer with KPMG (there were about 200 applicants for three places), and they offered her a full-time job for as soon as she graduates. She lives on K Street where she moved last year.
