I still want a spell check feature! But it is nice to be logged in, and not retype my user name and PW every time.

This feels so foreign. It's tough to teach an old dog new tricks!

I like the look and features of the new board. Thanks, CC!

I've been lurking for the past year, but now that everyone is a "new member", I've gotten up the gumption to post. Your insights were helpful as my son applied to Rhodes College and eventually enrolled there. Thanks everyone!

Welcome,, Chloe!

Changed my profile options and now the little red dot says I am invisible! Whoopee!

Chloe, is your son enjoying Rhodes?

Chloe, is your son enjoying Rhodes?

Over 30,
Yes indeed, I think he's having a wonderful experience there. We visited him last week during parents' weekend and were impressed with the genuine friendliness of everyone we met. It's a very small school, and already he seems to know so many of his classmates. Also, he's on the substance-free floor of his dorm, with a built-in group of like-minded fellows. He'd read that the fraternity issue might divide the campus socially, but so far this hasn't been a problem at all - he's attended some parties and apparently no one cares whether or not you are an actual member. All these social achievements from a guy who was somewhat of a social misfit in high school -the brainy type who got a late start with his peers due to a move into a new school district. Honestly, I think he's found it easier to make friends at Rhodes than at his high school.

The campus is located in the midtown area of Memphis. The immediate neighborhood is stunningly beautiful - older, beautifully kept homes, lovely lawns. It is only a few miles from the restaurants and shopping of Poplar Avenue, and a 20 minute car ride from the newer Cordova area. However, there is a more rundown section of town about a mile east of campus, and therefore, students must exercise caution when venturing out beyond the guarded campus gates, and must choose their destinations wisely (I'm still harping on this one. I hope he doesn't learn it the hard way).

Let me know if you have more questions. I don't know a lot about his teachers, only that he seems to be enjoying his classes.

Glad to see so many have made it over here!

Well, I like it but for the frustration that I've experienced in getting back on. I went through the procedures recommended yet never got a message to my email, nor was I able to reregister with my old name. So it's Goodbye, Cyclingdad, Hello, CLdad. Otherwise, the new format is fine. If the moderators can help get me back to my old name, I'd appreciate it.

I use Mozilla as a web browser at home - surprise, surprise, CC had the same look we all know and used to love.

Chloe, Thanks for letting us hear about your son's experiences at Rhodes. It's so hard to judge the effect of the Greek system from second hand reports so it's terrific to hear that someone like your son can still fit in and have a great time. Rhodes has to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the country and the academics appear top notch as well - congratulations on a great choice!

The new look is really cool! But I don't like being called a new member.

I had to change my name to "tabbyzmom" b/c the new CC would not recognize me. But I'm still the old "tabby" ,just have a new identity!

It's slower than the old version......I get frustrated with the latency.

Where is the info about icons? Why did I have a red dot below my name (instead of the white or yellow cc)? Thanks.

Heh, heh smsmom...you must be under terrorist watch by the CC powers that be.

(just kidding - couldn't resist)

I think the yellow cc square means you're online and the white means you're offline, and the red dot means you chose to be 'invisible' while on line. But I see a white square, not a red dot for you.

And hey, I'm a "junior" member. Can't recall the last time someone called me a "junior."
