Our school pays for all of our tests, I feel lucky now no rewards though, but I wouldn’t really expect one for an AP test. Also, it costs CB a good amount of money to set up these automated phone systems - think about the number of people calling simultaneously, and designing a system to handle all of that. And then, after a couple of days, no one uses it because everyone else is waiting for scores by phone. Because it’s a relatively small amount of test takers who call, $8 seems pretty reasonable.

It’s hard to do web scores when you don’t have to create a web login for AP scores… A real pain on the CB side to somehow authenticate who you are and retrieve your test results after the fact. A system like that’s hard to build, but I saw one of Trevor’s tweets saying he’s hoping for the funding and technicians to develop it for next year.

Wow, until now I had never heard of a school making their students pay for their own AP exams. I feel so lucky that my school is willing to pay for EVERYONES exams, regardless of the score they get. No rewards, but the district paying is a reward itself I guess!

Yeah, FL is blessed with this for AP tests. We’re lucky to not pay. Though, budget cuts are harsh. I heard a rumor that the AP coordinator is being fired because of budget cuts. He’s the best, so it’s depressing :(

AP credits already save you a lot of money at most colleges… it seems a bit overboard to pay the students for passing tests. I’m probably just cranky that my school doesn’t pay its students for passing though.

Oh, and AP scores don’t necessarily save you money, it depends on where you’re going to school. I’m getting almost nothing (getting to skip a semester of calculus, an essay-writing diagnostic test, and more flexibility my 2nd semester thanks to no credit limit, but it will still take 4 years.)

Will the scores for-sure be available on July 1st? Last year I called at like 7:00 am and they had my scores but I saw that some people said that they think that only 30-40% of the scores will be available by then…

^If some scores were available but others weren’t…I’m assuming they ask for your credit card number after you give them your AP number so they can make sure that your specific scores are in right?

Trevor said that the system will be ready by July 1st at the latest. I think we can assume that this means that a large, large majority of scores will be in. Of course, there will be some scores here and there not in the system, but that shouldn’t be the case for most people.

my school used to pay for AP tests until last year, but stopped bc seniors would just show up and sleep through them… ruined it for all of us, now it’s $87.
