the october 2007 sat thread

They did? Good. It wasn't hard, but it looked like they wanted to make it intimidating.

What about this. It looked so easy, but I'm still not sure what the answer was:

If y>2, for what possible values of x is xy=x+y?

I finished the other questions in the section like 7 minutes early and spent the remainder on that question. I picked 1<x<2, because 1.5*3=1.5+3

what about expedient?

I think it was indignant chinnu and I think I put expedient, don't know if it was right. There was another vocab one I Can't remember I'm trying to think of.

i couldnt finish the one about the sailors i still had 3 left at the end i think. math and writing were pretty easy tho

for the historian passage what did the both passages vehemently disagree on.
was it historian's reliabliity or history's relevance to the future

I put down indignant for the candy one, but I'm probably wrong..

muchlove, you mean the one about the company? I wasn't sure either.

What the **** is halcyon again? I forgot.

does anyone know the answer to the question that said how many 4 digit numbers start w/ 2 and dont end w/ 0? i hate those probability-ish questions

900..........2 _ _ _ = 10 possible digits x 10 x 9 digits without 0

historian's reliabliity; Passage 2 was basically character assassination for historians. That person genuinely hates historians.

I put 900 (10 charac)

chinnu, historian's reliability I think..
Altruist, halcyon is peaceful, serene, and i don't think it was an answer.

yay mike10003... that's what i put

Another vote for reliability of historians.

What about the question before? Did a lot of you get skeptical about accuracy?

I got 900 as well. 2000,2010,...2990...

What other HARD Math questions were there?

Was the area of the one with the parabola 13.5?

No, it was definitely indignant.

I put indignant... and halcyon! :P

Chinnu for that I put history's ability to change reform or something like that, Passage 2 did not think Historians were reliable IIRC

i also got obfuscate or some ob- word for vocab

ACtually I was between Historians reliability and Letter a, but I chose Historians reliability.

The second author BLATANTLY stated his disdain for the prejudice that could be presented, signified by his usage of the words "Bewildered" and something like confused men writing about the actions of other confused and bewildered men. The author author implied a genuine admiration for historians in the sense that he felt history was more of a tool to help guide people in the right directions.
