The OFFICIAL 2013 Decisions Thread

Nothing had changed around 7am this morning, but I’m not getting “This page is currently not available.”

I think it’s god just telling me to be patient and wait until tomorrow!

Same here ryanx13. Just a little while longer.

Congratulations to everyone! Our kid woke us up at 6:45 (we usually wake up 7). To tell us he got accepted. Seems for some reason he saw that some people had already been accepted through facebook ( I’m going to have to find out why he was on FB at that hour). Maybe someone texted him to tell him some people had been admitted. Anyway he showed me the acceptance letter from the website for summer B. We are all very excited. For my other kid from 2 years ago everyone found out at the exact same time on a Friday afternoon. So I’m not sure about this early wave, but I’m loving it:)

Now I can’t even log in to gatorlink because the admissions page is showing a different unavailability message. Something’s happening; maybe the release of decisions early was an error they’re trying to correct!

Readalotmom, I don’t blame your son… I did the same to my parents when I got accepted into other schools. Best of luck.

Right when I get my username and password from my laptop at home the app status page is unavailable…

I know, right? My daughter was accepted, and I went online to print another copy of the letter (because she took it to school to show a teacher), and now, it says it’s unavailable. I texted my daughter DON’T LOSE THAT LETTER! because what if it was a mistake. There was an article in Seventeen or some magazine she reads about a girl who was accepted to Vassar, and then, they un-accepted her! This was a reach school for my daughter, and definitely the triumph of holistic admissions over by-the-numbers, so it still doesn’t seem quite real.

Alex23, I completely agree with you. SAVE THE LETTER. I was accepted to UCF then 2 days later my status suddenly changed and I was deferred. Had I printed out the original acceptance I may have had an argument to make.

My friend was accepted. Innovation Academy.

admissions page came back up. Thhey just posted on the admissions page - thank you to the many freshman . . . decisions will be posted friday evening. maybe they are loading the decisions - in any case looks like those who heard were just leaks - lucky for them- and congratulations!!! tomorrow for everyone else.

Congrats to everyone who found out early, and Alex23, congrats to your daughter for her getting into IA. My biggest advice, according to those I know in IA now, is to use the Fall she will have off for valuable work/intern/study abroad experience. The extra time can give her chance to do things others normally wouldn’t do right after college and it can be time she uses to mature (if that’s necessary of course). To those in summer b, use that summer to learn the campus.

ryanx13, yeah, that stinks. The first thing we did when she got accepted to UF was officially turn down UCF because we know SO MANY PEOPLE who are waiting to hear from them (Rolling admissions, my a**), and maybe if people who get in to UF turn them down, they’ll be able to take more people. But it would really stink if something happened to her UF acceptance – which is why were are not doing a thing about USF until she has the actual US Mail letter in her hand!

It seems like an awful lot of people are getting in to Innovation Academy. Maybe that’s where the leak is. Two of my daughter’s friends got in, and I don’t think they were in IA, but several people here, which is weird because they only take 500 vs. thousands of regular freshmen.

guys I know someone who called admissions about the leak today, and they said any early acceptances that went out were a MISTAKE AND INVALID. so that means that still nothing is a sure thing, everything will be cleared up tomorrow afternoon

Yes, they are indeed saying that. I got antsy and called too. I certainly hope that they just accidentally released some people’s REAL decisions because it will truly stink if people tell everyone they know (really easy via Facebook) that they got into UF, and it turns out to be a mistake.

It was a glitch and decisions were released. Now if they were invalid, well, that’s not what my Preview Staffer friend told me (Admissions briefed upcoming staffers). Simply put, there was a glitch, about 500 decisions got released. Nothing about them being valid or invalid. It looks like a lot of decisions were ones for IA, with a few Summer B.

So you don’t think it was a mistake as far as people actually being admitted, just a mistake sending them too early? I sure hope so. What is a Preview Staffer (forgive my ignorance)? Do you work for the university? How do you know this?

My daughter’s stats were definitely on the cusp (Her grades, not her SAT), but she had two friends who also got this notification, and they were definitely NOT on the cusp. One girl has 11 AP classes, challenging school, never got less than an A, over 1,000 community service hours, 1900 SAT, and the other, I don’t know his stats as intimately, but he’s always been a superachiever too, and isn’t even excited about UF because he has his sights set on the Ivy League. So I’m hoping these were just correct decisions released too early, rather than incorrect ones.

You’d think they’d just release them at this point, if they know. The guy I talked to on the phone sounded like he was at a call center or something, no info, no sympathy.

It would be so awful to be accepted at your dream school, then have it taken back.

Does anyone know if these are the actual decisions that are just released early? Or if they are just random decisions sent out?

Preview Staffers are orientation leaders. I have friends that are Staffers for this year lol.

You’re daughter’s stats looked amazing when you posted them, so it probably isn’t a mistake. I don’t think it is an acceptance mistake, they don’t have these decisions overnight lol.

posted on wrong thread lol

I saw a letter and it said IA and Summer B, a bit confusing. I could not get online quick enough to see my results. I guess I will wait til tomorrow night!
Good luck everyone!!!

Just my two cents, but I don’t think the University would somehow accidentally upload acceptances to someone’s account who had been denied. If you saw an acceptance letter, it’s probably legit. There are 29,000 applicants and only 6,500 spots, so since the acceptances are the minority, I think they’re real. Plus, UF is an awesome school, and they’d honor an acceptance even if it wasn’t intentional, I’m sure.

My Preview staffer friends were talking about this today, and they said that UF usually uploads the decisions in batches in the few days before “official” release day so that their servers don’t overload tomorrow with everyone trying to check all at once, and one batch was uploaded today and not masked. It’s been fixed since then. Good luck to everyone!
