So how are you guys feeling about this? Discuss.

(As a side note: For those that have already taken the exam, do you think one should study for it? I did much better than I expected on the practice exam we took in class (144/150 on the 2002 exam, probably a fluke), would you recommend studying for biology or studying for other AP exams? Thanks for your advice!)

*** 144/150?!?!?!
Was the teacher really lenient and let you guys use books? Marked free response easily?
Either way man, even 6 wrong/blank on multiple choice is impressive. No fluke man, you know your stuff.

I hope I get 95+/150 (borderline 5 hopefully lol)

I know I saw it around here earlier, but does anyone have the scores necessary to get a 5,4,3,2,1 in Bio?

I know when it was 120 questions, you had to get 80 MC for a 5, not including FRQ. (63 for a 4, 49 for a 3)

The percentage is around the same…
So find the percentage and convert that into 120.

DataBox:

Yeah, I owned the 2002 exam too but I really think it’s easier than what we should be expecting, based on this year’s audit exam.

Um…no books, her TA’s graded free responses, and they are strictly trained to go by the AP rubric. I think I got something like 112.75/119 on the MC and 39/40 on the FRQs. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pull off that 5 despite the audit =(

Have most of you gotten through the entire book this year?
Our teacher has us finishing up the last few chapters while we are reviewing for the exam, and the class average on the last unit test was 64.7%
He has basically “touched the surface” for each chapter and now, as we are going through the review, it has really become increasingly evident.
Oh, and as far as review books go…Barrons vs. Princeton…what are your thoughts and which are you using?

My teacher spent so much time on monomers/polymers, respiration, and photosynthesis first semester that she’s had to rush through DNA/RNA, evolution, heredity, etc. second semester. She only gave us 10 page packets for plants and phylums, expecting us to retain knowledge from that busy-work (no tests BTW). We learned Ecology in an entire day, watching an outdate 25-30 minute movie.

I’ve had to self-study the last month: plants, body systems, ecology, etc. It’s actually been beneficial, and I wish I could’ve done it sooner and in multiple classes. You can’t rely on teachers for success on an AP test when the curriculum is as big as this.

Definitely get the CliffsAP Bio books- my brother read it the night before and got a 6 last year

Cliffs? ok, will do, thanks.

What about Pearson (the orange and blue one)? My teacher gave us all this review book at the beginning of the year so I didn’t think it necessary to go out and buy another one. It’s kind of a small book so will it be okay to review from?

eh cliffs is legit i meant a 5 by the way
