The Official AP Chemistry Discussion Thread

that makes sense thank you Ch33psh33p~

haha don’t cry coz tat won’t help a lot
am not really ready for this, but i believe we should be positive and make the best attempt to solve questions =D

Well you are using a Weak Acid and the pH will only shift from acidic to basic when you have very little acid left and a lot of base forming if the concentrations were more like 1.499 M and .001M of each than it becomes more basic than acidic

Ka and Kb are the same thing, so it’s probably not going to be Kb given the fact that they’ve had two Ka questions recently.

Metallic copper is heated strongly with concentrated sulfuric acid. The products of this reaction are
(A) CuSO4(s) and H2(g) only
(B) Cu2+, SO2(g), and H2O
(C) Cu2+, H2(g), and H2O
(D) CuSO4(s), H2(g), and SO2(g)
(E) Cu2+, SO3(g), and H2O

The answer is B, but why?

Physics today, Chem tomorrow

Just got 60/75 Raw score on the audit with -4 points on the FRQ :D

I think sulfuric acid always breaks up into SO2 and H2O

can someone post the link for the audit exam? thanks in advance

Wait if it just broke up, how did Cu gain a 2+ charge?

What the freak there’s no way Im gonna be able to memorize the molecular shapes.

you don’t have to memorize the shapes, just reason it out. Just think in terms of affective pairs, like 3 bonding pairs and 1 lone pair is the same as 4 bonding pairs.

Serafina: Yeah, I know… LeChatelier’s and the atomic structure/bonding/IMFs are the reasons my scores are usually pretty low and leave me short of a 5. :frowning:
And as for my predictions, I just looked at the topics from last year and kinda made random guesses. Also, I usually wouldn’t count Stoich as a major component of the problem, but if it was, I would bet it’s with the Gases question. I think the Electro question this year is going to be more conceptual, and I was thinking it might be on Electrolytic since I think they haven’t done it in a while. Not sure.

63.25/75 on 2002, probably around the same on the course audit. FRQs are my better section.

can someone please post the link for the audit exam?

51/75 with a raw score of 45 on 2002 MC. After the FRQ and adding in the multipliers for the exam curve… my final composite score was 106… and according to that year, the minimum for a 5 was 107. =(

^ thank you so much.

anyone know of any other practice tests other than the 84,89,02, and 08 tests. PLz let me know…thx
