** The OFFICIAL Stanford EA 2010 Thread

It looks (generally speaking, just from what I've seen here) that they're deferring lower SAT scores...

you need to do 75% of the sat questions to get a score, and a 200 require you to guarantee that you made the wrong and right ratio 1:4, so it could strongly demonstrate your ability, even higher than a 800!!

is community service more important than SAT scores for getting into stan?

i often wonder if there is any distinguishable pattern in the people that stanford (and other sub 20% admission schools too...) admits.

is it true that the essay is like the most important part?

there is nothing, NOTHING... more important than the essay when it comes to stanford, and that is the truth. if your essay can STAND out and HOLD ITS OWN among essays from 20,000 other equally qualified applicants, you will do just fine.

i'm sure this is the case with stanford. it's not the same way with ivy league schools. stanford's admissions process is truly one of a kind

and that's one thing I truly love about stanford - much more "Realistic" admission process - they want your truth and see how you can express your emotions

wow didnt see one legacy EA....any here??

yep, I don't know how much it helped tho

I was legacy ea. A lot of us didnt post it.

I don't understand why minorities keep short-changing themselves. If you got into an exceptional school, it should be because of who you are and your abilities, not because of AA. It makes me really sad when people say this about minorities, or [worse] if we say it ourselves. Just because we aren't white/asian, doesn't mean we need to belittle ourselves. We should give ourselves more credit!!! =]

Hey, could someone please post the lowest stats someone had, who got in. This thread is huge and discouraging. I want to see a person who got in with really low stats. No minorities/legacies/rec athletes please. Just us normies ;). Thanks! (Even deffered is good enough because Stanford only defers the really good people.)

Fat chance you will get a volunteer to say hey, look how bad I am and I got in.

Meh. There might be someone out there...

sharkbite, my friend got deferred with a 2170 sat and a 3.8 gpa uw

still, you should expect that very very few people with really low stats got admitted. after all, this IS stanford we're talking about...

OT: Woah...I got deferred as well with a 2170 SAT :D

Hey, this is an anonymous forum, I'd be willing to post all my rejections for you guys to see. Its not like it hurts me in any way. Hey, it might even help some people.

I got deferred with a 1920.

And I don't think that this makes me "bad," so I have no problem posting it. In fact, I thank Stanford for looking beyond the SATs.

"In fact, I thank Stanford for looking beyond the SATs."

Agree.

Everyone admitted to Stanford has something very special to offer. Thus someone admitted with lower stats probably has some amazing personal/extracurriuclar/athletic talent. Thus don't think that Stanford admitting one low stat kid means a "normal" person can get in. It means that the applicant was extraordinary in another way.

i have an email from stanford on 2/15 saying my application is completed and under review.. and decision will be announced early april..
Wonder how so many got their results so quickly..
I applied on Dec 15th
