Accepted! I was an early admission applicant OOS, meaning if I go I will be entering after my junior year in high school. I’m only 16 and I will still only be 16 entering tech. I don’t know my GTECH weighted GPA but at my school I have a 4.4 and my UW is a 4.0. 32 on my ACT and 2070 on SAT (700 M, 690WR, 680CR). I’m not 100% sure that I am going yet but its a “definite possibility.” I’m just happy I got in!

I don’t understand that statement. Once you get in, you get in, regardless of whether it’s off the waitlist, early notification, regular decision, etc. For the rest of your life, you’ll either be a Georgia Tech graduate or a UGA graduate, not a waitlister or not. So why would you choose an inferior school with lower career potential because your ego is a little bruised from a waitlist offer?

Dah ■■■? Who says UGA is an inferior school? It’s actually very reputable. And honestly, I don’t really care about undergrad because I plan on going to graduate school. So I’d rather go to UGA, be near my parents, and have a way higher GPA than go to Georgia Tech, probably graduate in 5+ years, and have a ****ty GPA. And also, my major is Psychology, so I’d rather go to a University for that than an Institution of Technology. If I was an engineering major, I’d probably reconsider.

This is my opinion. I honestly don’t give a single **** about yours.

With a maturity level like that, I can’t imagine why they would reject you.

UGA is an inferior school by all regards. Not a bad school, but not equivalent. Going to such a school will decrease your graduate school options. That’s just common sense.

As far as GPA, UGA and GT Psych majors have the same average GPA. The difference is that at GT, Psych majors have one of the highest average GPAs on campus (because the engineers bring down the average). At UGA, Psych majors have one of the lower GPAs on campus (because Education, Forestry Science, and Family Studies majors bring up the average GPA). So when a grad school sees your GPA, and it’s the same at both schools, would it look better to be above the university average or below the university average? What about graduating with honors? A 3.15 GPA lets you graduate with honors at GT. It’s around a 3.6 at UGA.

And if you take 5+ years to graduate with a psychology degree, you’ve got problems. Engineering takes 4.5 years on average because it’s a 130-140 credit hour major. Psychology is a 120 credit hour major.

But, go ahead, make an irrational decision based on an emotional response that you’ll regret for the rest of your life.

^ CFB53B, very well said. I agree with you. Once you get accepted, you’re in, regardless of whether you’re off the waitlist or RD. Nobody ever knows except for you. It doesn’t matter, as long as you’re accepted to such good college like Tech.

So don’t get upset because you’re waitlisted. Waitlist means you’re qualified and still have a chance.

Decision: Denied
Stats:
GPA- 3.3 UW
SAT-1980 Math-600 CR-730 WR-650
EC’s very involved in robotics 1st year and we went to state on our first try, and made second place in another competition and got 8/75 at state. Also I have a job and still manage to work 25 hours and do about 15 hours of robotics a week. Is it weird that I didn’t even get waitlisted? I got deferred EA so I thought I might have been good enough to get waitlist. Idk.

Decision: Accepted - Out of State (Massachusetts)
SAT - 750 M 630 CR 630 W
GPA - 3.53 UW Top 15% of class
7 AP’s (US Hist, Euro Hist, Calc AB, Calc BC, Physics B, Physics C, Stats)
3 varsity letters soccer and conference all-star
Part-time job from sophomore year

Decision: accepted to Early Admission (hs junior)
GPA: 3.95 unweighted, 2150 SAT

I got offered summer session… is it really optional? I’m not sure if I’ll decide to go though, since I think I have sufficient chance to apply for better schools next year.
