Hi,
I got into the PLC as in OOS student so, yes, I'm pretty excited but I'm not sure how much being in the program will help me,job wise. I know it's a big commitment and they teach you valuable leadership skills but I'm still wondering how it will pay off in the end. If you know some one in their PLC (or were in there yourself) could you please tell me how they enjoyed it. Also, do jobs recruit kids from the PLC? Do you think having it on a job application helped them?

Congratulations on being accepted!!

Neither of my kids particpated in PLC, but my daughter’s fiance did (both graduated May 2010), so take this from my limited standpoint.

PLC seems to be a very well run program with some really GREAT kids in it. In fact, most of my daughter and future son-in-law’s friends were in PLC. I’ve met many of these young adults and they are very impressive. Some are working for high profile organizations, some for start-ups, some are doing a year of teaching through a program, and some are entering or preparing for graduate/law/medical school. I can’t speak as to increased job opportunities, but these kids are very bright, well-motivated, and learn lots of time management skills in PLC. So these skills can only serve to HELP you in the job market.

The only downside I hear is that as a freshman you spend so much time with other PLC kids that it’s more difficult to have the time to make friends outside of PLC. But bear in mind that the PLC friends you make will likely be some very smart, engaging people. Not a bad crowd to hang out with!!
