In case anyone was interested, the average stats for accepted UCLA students in 2005 were 4.11 UC GPA, 1341 old SAT I + 672 SAT II Writing = 2013 new SAT I, and 686 SAT II Math. As you can see from this link, the numbers stay fairly consistent from year to year, but almost certainly increased due to the record number of applicants (12% increase).

leaning towards community college, though I hate thinking about the fact that all the time I spent during high school was a waste.

I'm wondering if there was any chance I could only spend one year there...

Barely below average GPA (4.0), fairly above SAT 1 (2110), and Math II (760). A UCLA representative said my essays were very impressive, and I actually think my ECs were the strongest part of my application.

I don't understand why I got rejected. Hopefully they have the balls to give me answer when I call them.

how do you do that?? im very intersted in calling as well. or even visiting them in real life.

Well, here's the number of the admissions office:
310-825-8911

Guys, I wouldn't recommend calling them on Monday. They got 47,000 applications this year and rejected more than 35,000, so they're going to be swamped this week. You'd be better off working on that appeal letter than calling someone to yell at them.

Well, I sort of expected it...I guess?
I applied from NY, I spent little time on my essays, but still.

I always read the UC's 50%ile statistics, and all my numbers were higher than the provided #s. My SAT 1 was only 2120, and my SAT 2s were 700-750, and I had decent extracurriculars. Last year from my school, 3~ people got in with stats like mine. Ah, whatever.

I still have USC (dean's baby!), and I'm hoping for Berkeley. I will really be sad if Berkeley rejects me too though.

Does a rejection from LA equal to a rejection from Berkeley in the coming days? I hope not.

i think OOS has much higher expectations than in-state (?) since a lot of instate people go to UC's the SAT average is deceptively lower than what might be necessary to get in (my guess)

Rejection was expected but the letter just popped out of nowhere..lol...

2100 sat, 2.81uc gpa..

This is just more motivation to WORK OUR ASSES OFF IN COLLEGE, TRANSFER/GRAD SCHOOL, AND PROVE THEM WRONG!!

i dont even really like ucla THAT much now that i think about it, i dont need to go there, but this is still a slap in the face because i thought i was so qualified... alright get rid of my nice sat because they dont care about that, my gpa was fine and i thought my extracurriculars were good, my essays seemed pretty interesting and showed some really unique interests i have, including talking about the community service program i have spent so much of my time on.

is it possible to call them, ever? i just really wonder what put me below the people they accepted, and hope other colleges wont have the same problems with me.

the appeal seems really worthless and i dont think they deserve one from me ;)

Im in a similar situation as formwhenyoucame. I'm valedictorian, I've got a pretty good SAT score, I had a killer essay. I'd kinda like to know why I got denied. Is calling alright?

I wouldnt have gone to UCLA even if I had gotten accepted, but it was a slap in the face. Where did I go wrong?

guidez89, this is the UCLA thread... not the USC...

sorry bro, i meant to put ucla, just fixed it

hahaha

no problem

im not a bro tho

hahaha :)

REJECTED :-) AND HAPPY

3.3 GPA/1970 SAT

Was I expecting an acceptance? HELL NO
Would I have gone if i had gotten in? HELL NO
Will I appeal? HELL NO
Do I want to go to a school were I won't pass a single course and will probably drop out after a week? HELL NO

Congrats to those of you who got in... good luck on passing your courses there. With your stats... I think many of you will do great :-).

ah, i love your attitude amirada! You make me happy :)

just read the letter...rejected...
hmm...well...im not too bummed....UCLA was kinda too far away anyways...

Amirada, out of curiousity, how come you applied if you are so sure you wouldn't go there if you got in? Just to see if you get in?

This is the first college I heard from and yep rejected too. And also rejected by usc so life isn't encouraging. I cried because they have the best slavic program...so what else is there to go. oh well everybody will get in somewhere great.
