The Scores Are Out!

first time taker, didn't study..

1840
CR: 630
Math: 560
Writing: 650

horrible..can i get into the 2000 range by march?

what was math curve? -1=800?

CR 520
M 800
W 600 (57/80, 9)

I guess this is okay for my first try, and considering this is my first year studying in US...

I hate filling in bubbles.

hey guys
do colleges look at sat as a whole or sat in individual sections - the best in math, the best in cr, the best in writing?

Best in Math, best in CR, best in Writing. If you get 800 M, 600 V, 600 W the first test and then a 800 V, 800 W, 600 M the second test...then they view it as a 2400.

Used my scores as an example

......not.

would college see a problem if u decrease ur scores the second time?
also, do u think i should retake:
Writing 760
Math 710 (can def. improve to 800)
CR 740 (can def decrease to 600)

total - 2210

I don't know when the March date is, but I think 2000 is a reasonable goal IF you put a lot of time and effort into studying and taking some practice tests. gl

March 10th.

above jlamp said they take the best from CR, writing, and math - is this true for all colleges?

^
no many colleges don't do that. For example the UC system

man it seems like everyone here is really smart...

well, i took it for the first time, and i'm not really sure what to think of my scores. i was really excited and couldn't sleep the night before, but when i saw them i was seriously expressionless because i know they're not bad, but also not great. anyway, i got a 2180

740 m
710 cr
730 w (10 essay)

i know i can get the math and writing score up easily, but what do yall suggest to get that critical reading up? just the blue book and find patterns, i assume? vocab is no problemo, just the damn passage questions b/c i was pretty confident about my inferences, then i get my score back...grr.

888888888,
Really? I had never heard that before. So they only take the best single test total score? Do you know of any other schools or systems that do that too? And don't most look at your best CR, M, and W individually regardless of when the applicant scored thatZ?

My first SAT as well...

CR - 700
M - 760
W - 760

Total Score: 2220

Retaking in March, hoping for 2300+.

Jlamb, yes, commonly schools superscore (take the best from each of the sections).

GRAIN and alwaysthisclose,
how did you guys improve? how did you guys study?

I'm in the low 2100s and am looking to improve ~200 points.

760 math-two dumb mistakes that I realized I made right after the test
740 CR-bad day I can get an 800 on this no problem
650 W- all I can say is ouch

2230
760-800-670
will retake in june for a better writing score -__-

OMG!!! I'm so happy!!.
I got a 2040 2nd time
I got 1890 my 1s time

600-CR
720 Math :((( dropped 60 points....... If I kept the same as last time I would have had a 2100 :(
720 Writing !!

Overall I'm SUPER HAPPY!!!
I'm DONE WITH SAT I!!!!!!!!!
But now I have to worry about SAT IIs :o

Eeriedescent-
To be honest, the most important thing that I did differently my second time was get to sleep earlier. I got about 30 points knocked off math because I was dozing off on one section, so I got 2 wrong.

Another thing I did was look up strategies to write the SAT essay because I had to adapt my literary/critical essay-writing style to a personal experience-based type essay that the Collegeboard wants.
