<p>Man, the four years of Spanish have done nothing for me.</p>
<p>Okay, the criticizing of my Spanish really isn't necessary, I've only studied the language for four years. So let's just start by saying that. </p>
<p>Secondly, let me point out that when you said "the gringos" I assumed that you meant, well, "the gringos," not just a specific group of them. And I was offended because, yes, I have had native speakers laugh at my attempts to speak with them in my early years of Spanish, though most were wonderful. And yes, you do love to make fun of our accents, which would never be "politically correct" for a gringo to do, even though I know it happens a lot. </p>

<p>Well, giving you an aid in learning Spanish and already having the pronunciation down, now that sounds like an advantage, now doesn't it? I'm not saying you shouldn't have an advantage, I'm just saying, you do have one, and most of us "gringos" don't (in that specific area).</p>

<p>I was thinking of writing a whole paragraph full of swear words in Spanish putting down Latin but decided it might not be the best idea.</p>
<p>EDIT: To all the people who say Latin helps a ton for the SATs, it really doesn't. You spend too much time trying to remember what the root of the word is and are prone to mistakes. Often, the word's root doesn't actually mean what you think. And you can always learn roots of words w/o burdening yourself with Latin. Besides, Spanish sounds a million times better than Latin in speech.</p>

But lately I've been speaking Spanglish a lot and thats been affecting how I speak when I only have to speak one language.
Whenever I have to speak English, I will constantly pause for a moment to
think of the correct word I have to say. The same goes for when I want to speak Spanish. :(
