The Spirit of du lac !

This is one of my all time favorite videos of Notre Dame.

I encourage all prospective applicants to watch it.

Also if anyone knows the very last song, can you please tell me

Thanks

Here's the link. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=3843422

Your right Tim, that is a very good video. I also really like the videos they have on the ND website. I saw those at my visit, but they are still nice to watch again.

Tim, I was wondering...you are all over the ND boards and you are very active on this site. I know that you are applying this year but how do you know you'll get in? I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I was just curious. After my campus visit at ND I was on this web site all of the time just trying to learn more about ND because I fell in love with the campus. However, I stopped coming here, hoping that I wouldn't feel as attached to ND so in the case of recieving a rejection letter I would be able to handle it better (believe me though, ND is my 1st choice school and it will be very heart breaking if I get a rejection letter). I can tell you love the campus and you have wanted to go to ND for a very long time...what will happen if that doesn't work out for you? Do you even have other colleges in mind?

That is an excellent video.

And I believe the song is "Here come the Irish" sung by Cathy Richardson. I've been wondering that for awhile as well. Couldn't find it on iTunes, but it's on this CD: http://www.bkstr.com/ProductDisplay/10001-35938-10900-4000000000000205997-1?demoKey=d.

Leaf_,

I dont know that I'll get in. I like going on Nd boards because I get to talk about something thats very important to me, Notre Dame. I love discussing all things about it, because to me its a lot more than a school. Ive been attached to Notre Dame for so long, so... IDK even if I dont get into Notre Dame... ND will still be a part of me.................. I just hope that one day I will be a part of Notre Dame

"I can tell you love the campus and you have wanted to go to ND for a very long time...what will happen if that doesn't work out for you?"

-- Ive asked myself this question a lot.... and really, If I dont get in I dont really have a choice ... Im just going to have to move on, however difficult that may be and hope I get in next time

I try to focus on the positives though, leaf, and I suggest you do the same

Thanks shellzie...Ive heard that song so many times, but I could never find the name of it

Thanks

Again, I wasn't trying to be mean at all. I was just wondering how you could be so confident.

As soon as I stepped on to campus I knew that ND was where I wanted to go to college. When I went on my visit this summer I was hesitant to fall in love with it because one of my friends was on the waiting list and she and I have very similar stats. I didn't want to go through the heartbreak that she went through. My parents are also kind of annoying about this whole college seach thing. They keep telling my that I need to be able to be happy at whichever college I pick as #2 in case I don't get in. I've been to several others but nothing even comes close to ND. Sometimes I feel that I can get in and that it's almost "meant to be" but then I see some of the stats that these other kids post on the website and reality comes flooding back. You are right though..."focus on the positives."

leaf, I am not confident. Trust me, I am just as scarred and as nervous as you that I wont get in. I dread the day ( if it ever comes ) that I get rejected.... but there is no point in worrying about it.... Put your anxiousness into studying a bit for the next ACT, or doing well on the next test. Its still in our hands, which is a good feeling......... and when we are done with the app, lets go out and enjoy senior year and whatever happens, happens

Tim they showed this video at orientation it was very moving. I love "here Come the irish" I've heard it on you tube it is great. Good luck with the Application process I lit a candle out there for all of you fellow applicants.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=oGHdeEXH7js

theres the link of the song on youtube... its really moving

Im trying to find the lyrics... shellzie? Kr?

nm I copied them down

And there's a magic in the sound of her name
Here come the Irish…. of Notre Dame

well I remember the leaves a falling
and far off music like pipes a calling
and I remember the golden morning
I saw the long ranks as they were forming

And there's a magic in the sound of her name
Here come the Irish of Notre Dame

The pilgrims follow by sacred waters
and arm in arm go the sons and daughters
the drums are rolling and forward bound
they're calling spirits up from the ground

and there's a magic in the sound of her name
Here come the Irish… of Notre Dame

(Flute thing solo)

And there's a magic in the sound of her name
Here come the Irish…. of Notre Dame

Here come the Irish… of Notre Dame

(Flute thing solo)

(Piano solo)

Here Come the Irish is the single best song ever written and preformed by anyone in the history of the universe ever. After the Fight Song, I guess.

is there another place i could watch that video because it wont let me. something about javascript?

really??

umm its just a myspacetv page... so I wouldnt know

Just let it run, and if there is a pop up question.... then just X it out

That usually works when that stuff happens to me

btw... I agree kevdude... its a great song..... i love the passion she has when she sings it

it really is a magical place... i took a midnight jog last night--i have a route that let's me see every famous ND landmark!--but anyways, i there was a deer just sprinting across the quad right in front of me! as i ran by the stadium! if that's magic i don't know what is lol

The video was moving. It captures what Notre Dame is. An elite institution staying true to its roots. A rarity in the elitist secular academic environment of today.

jvon I am glad you are enjoying ND so much. You certainly deserve to experience the magic .

"Here Come the Irish" was written by John Scully (ND '81) and Jim Tullio. Scully is playing piano and Tullio plays guitar in the video. Here's a little more info about him:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Scully_(football_player)

amom, I dont think your link is working

but anyway... its a great song, and my mom is getting angry because im playing it so loudly

she thinks that Cathy Richardson ( the lady singing ) sounds like a cow, which I completely disagree with .

I caught myself hymning it to myself walking to class, and I think I realized that I have listened to it too much

also I though Scully graduated in 80'

Oops! I left out the ending parenthesis. Let me try again:
