Hi, I'm currently a senior who has been taking Chinese for all of high school, and unfortunately, my high school has a poor program. I know a lot of the knowledge, but I (and mostly my mother) feel that I need to be in an immersion program to be able to speak fluently. I get that. HOWEVER, it's a program I would take the summer after I graduate high school. It's the last summer I'll be able to spend home and the last summer before I'll go off to college. I know MMLA is a fantastic program, but I plan on taking Chinese classes at college (and even study abroad) and would rather spend my last summer at home with my family and friends before I leave. Any advice? I would like to know other people's experiences and see if they think it is worth it.

I really just don't know if it's worth doing something academic the summer before college. It's the last summer I'll have to enjoy with family/friends before I'm off in the big world. I also want to work and make some money.

Thanks!
