Hello, I am currently a Theatre Design and Production student at Oklahoma City University with an emphasis in lighting design. I have recently been looking at other schools to possibly transfer to. One school that has really stuck out to me is DePaul University. Can anyone give me some information on how the program is at DePaul? Thanks for your help.

I don’t know much about DePaul’s tech program, but this year, being a drama student at CCM, I have been blown away by our tech program. I highly suggest looking into CCM. TDP students work long hard hours but they come out getting incredible work at great theaters right off the bat.

DPU has an incredible design program. I went there three years ago and have worked consistently ever since. It’s extremely intense and way more geared toward design- so if you’re looking to learn about the new fancy lighting programs or super expensive new lights, it’s not the best. However you have a world class inventory to use, you get to design at least two shows, and it’s a very small, supportive community. I loved DPU, my partner is currently in school there for lighting design (he’s an adult student) and has learned and grown so much. I highly recommend it if you can afford it- always ask for more money because they’re willing to give it out.
