The Top 25 Recruiter Picks

Top 25 Colleges Ranked By Recruiters - WSJ.com

That has nothing to do with business and only relates to companies who recruit the school as a whole, no specific colleges (i.e. business school). Read the methodology, that study is flawed, or at least doesn’t cover the breath people think it does.

Completely agree with LonghornDan. PennState isn’t in the top 5 in Pennsylvania yet alone a “great school”. And ASU? Don’t they accept like 96% of applicants (that’s verging on Univ. of Phoenix status).

This list is crap - you cannot tell me a person, recruiting someone for a reasonable job, unless its McDonalds counter service, would really want a PennState grad over a UPENN grad.

That’s exactly what It says.

This list doesn’t represent the top jobs in business, it’s the average ones.

Plus, the list involves less than 500 companies and there is no telling how prestigious or desirable these companies are. It also doesn’t take into account that larger schools are going to have more recruiters because they have more students, or the fact that many top schools have lots of kids go on to do graduate work, leading to less students for recruiters. If I’m not mistaken, the rankings don’t take into account the number of positions the recruiters are offering. Penn state may have “the most recruiter,” but does it have the most jobs?

A much better representation of how a school places is the percentage of students employed at, or just after graduation compared to the number of students who entered the work force. This story and rankings are somewhat interesting, but are misleading and people are doing a terrible job interpreting what this really means. I mean come on, are you really going to tell me that your job prospects after school are better if you went to Penn State than if you went to Harvard, or any IVY or top-20 for that matter? get real.

Better no, but darn good if you are among the better PSU grads that year which is what it really says. It also is good for comparing among the larger schools which are pretty similar. Maybe many companies don’t really give a crap if you can get into ASU with a B average as long as you come out with an A average and can talk to people. It surveyed a broad section of large companies so many of them are pretty decent to get and stay large today.

I think you need to reread it as it says many very good things about these grads from state U’s. Smart, well prepared, less obnoxious.
