Spanks: Sorry for double posting, lol. I'm not going to post the previous message any more.

it's okay, I just replied to the other one and came over here and saw it again lol

You should expect nervousness. The whole thing about this college thing is that everything is a crap-shoot. I mean from those stats you sound like you should have a good shot, but in the end it almost seems like things are a roll of the dye. I mean colleges can do some weird things, usually Penn likes our school but did not take one student RD, even the seluditorian of a graduating class of 600 (a big deal.)

Does anyone else have any comments about my chances at Cornell? nstync567's comments are pretty scary...

you have good chances, but nobody is a garunteed lock--unless daddy donated a building. People get accepted at harvard and rejected @ cornell all the time. Happened to two of my friends.

BTW just out of respect to everyone else on the forums, it'd be nice to just make a thread on your stats/chances than to randomly throw them into the middle of a totally unrelated conversation. I understand your nervousness. After all, most of us were in your shoes exactly 1 year ago. But yeah, keep it to its own thread unless it's pertinent to the current conversation. People will reply, and if they don't and it gets knocked off the first page just bump it back. Once again, your chances are good (60/40?) FYI i feel it doesn't get much better than 75/35...unless daddy donated a building. Goodluck!

sparticus800: Thanks for your input. I apologize for interrupting this thread. I'm just anxious about the college admissions process, as I hope you all must clearly understand. Sorry again.

75/35? Clearly Cornell's math department is a winner ;)

I'm visiting on Friday from Portland, guess I'll see for myself which of these myths are true or not.

Here's another one: Cornell's really, really hard to get to for a guy from the Pacific Northwest. Oh wait.

Myth - there's nothing to do in Ithaca. (I found it a charming place, personally.)

Bad weather story: my second and last year at Cornell was particularly snowy. There was snow on the ground right after Thanksgiving, and there was four inches of snow on the ground at the end of the Grateful Dead show at Barton Hall in May, after classes had ended for the year. People were joking that year about transferring to California schools; I actually did so, for unrelated reasons.

There have been other years with barely any snow for the entire winter. (My parents live about an hour away from Ithaca, and I get personal weather reports from them frequently.)

Grey Beard,

Next time you're in the Ithaca area, check out the Lost Sailors. Larry Honigbaum's guitar playing is outstanding!

Wharf

75/35 out of 110 idiot...@ cornell we're too advanced to use percents... (oooh smooth save lol) actually i'm just retarded i meant to say 85/15...
