I just checked online, i registered an email address I never use, cuz who uses email when we got facebook and stuff. Just check online.

I saw my status online and the email didn’t get there until 7 hours my status was updated. So yes you will get an email but it will be a few hours after your account is actually updated.

Hey, I just applied to FAU on november 17th, and I have a 2.9 gpa last semester but a 3.15 this quarter, even though I know colleges don’t really care about the quarter grades rather than the semester, and I got a 1760 on my sat and a 26 on my act. I’m really stressed out, do you think I can make it? I also applied with the elite owl application they sent me. I’m pretty nervous. It’s my number one school.

Whoops, I mean I have a 24 on my act.

I know it’s really late to apply, but I decided to go for it. My GPA is low, 2.5 unweighted, 2.8 weighted. Will they look at my application or do they require at 2.6 unweighted? My SAT scores were decent with a 690 in reading and 1700 total; which met the school average. I also had a lot of volunteer service, and went to a performing arts high school for ballet among other clubs/activities, so I’m hoping that will make me stand out. Any chance for me? Or did my GPA kill it? ):

Good luck! My understanding is that they’ve started a waitlist…

Hello and congrats on your degrees! That’s awesome! I applied for my masters and I have an interview this week where they ask 2-3 questions! Can you give me a heads up on what I should expect?? Thanks :)

Greetings gradgirl1,

I’m not aware of any graduate program with an interview outside of the medical school - which program are you applying to?

I would assume it’s something like, “What are your career goals?” “What research would you like to do here?” “What do you know about our program?” and maybe some questions about your background knowledge.

My graduate program (Biomedical Science) had no formal interview but once I was in the program itself and trying to fill my schedule, I was pimped a little bit to prove my background knowledge before professor would sign off on my class registration. Nothing I couldn’t handle but certainly unexpected at the time!

HI FAU-Guy. I’ve always wanted to attend FAU. I would like to be able to start attending FAU in August of 2013 ( I’m not sure if that’s the summer or fall term) after I graduate high school. I am currently a junior ( soon to be senior) and i have a 4.1 weighted GPA and a 3.3 unweighted GPA. I scored a 1580 on my SAT and a 20 on my ACT. When should I apply for FAU? Should I apply now? Do you think I’ll be accepted?

Greetings DarDar,

Excellent to hear. That’s Fall term, or the normal time one would start college.

The fall 2011 freshman profile for the mid- 50% was as follows:
High School GPA: 3.2 - 3.8
ACT composite: 22-25
SAT total: 1510 - 1720

I think your GPA and SAT put you in a good position to be admitted to FAU.

According to the admissions website, priority if given to Fall 2013 freshman applications submitted on or before Feb 15th, 2013. However, I believe you can submit the online application as soon as September 2012. Since it only costs ~$30 to apply, might as well knock it out early and save yourself the last minute drama. That way you’ll know as soon as possible.

Good luck!

Hey, FAU Guy!

I have numerous friends and family who are FAU grads, my grandfather taught there for over 30 years, I have lived within walking distance of campus nearly all my life and currently dual-enroll at the Boca campus. I’d be happy to answer any questions, especially about the city of Boca and the surrounding area.

You’re awesome in answering every single person! But I’m a current senior with a 3.2 unweighted and 3.6 weighted with a 22 on my ACT! Would I basically have like a down the middle type chance to get in? Also any sorority recommendations even though you’re obviously a “FAU_Guy”? Oh also hows the football student section? (Fun, or kind of quiet?) Thanks!!

Hi Alexis (and mmmgirl!),

I think you would have a very good chance to get in, especially with your weighted score. You’re within the range that FAU usually accepts, even with a 35% admissions rate.

As far as sorority recommendations, that’s a bit harder not because I’m a guy but because each sorority has their own “character” so you really just have to attend Recruitment (aka Rush) and go through their gauntlet of socials to see who you like and who you can’t stand to be around.

Football student section: ebbs and flows. The real party is the Rat’s Mouth, the student tailgate section outside the stadium. Especially if you’re in a sorority, you’re have plenty of fun there because everybody’s there. Then you move into the student section and it can be awesome if it’s the first game, we’re on TV or expected to win. We’re going through a rebuilding year right now so it’s a little tame but it should be much better when you get here.

Freshmen are having a great time here right now!
