Congrats to @figureskatingpuppy & littermate! That’s awesome news!
Deerfield just sent out an email saying they may still go to waitlist and asked if I wanted to stay on the waitlist indefinitely until the beginning of the school year. Did everyone else receive this email if your on Deerfield’s waitlist?
We got that email, too @mtmtmt1227 but we said we didn’t want to stay on WL back on M12 or so. So we thought it was very strange. We tried to take DS off the WL one more time.
@buuzn03 I assume they probably just sent it to everyone they placed on the waitlist back on M10.
I think they are trying to narrow down their waitlist by eliminating those who have decidedly committed elsewhere
Very excited to announce that my DD has enrolled at Canterbury. As a mom, I’m super excited because it’s so close to our home. I really feel like it’s going to be best of both worlds. We had a miserable M10 with 2 FA WL, 2 WL and 2 rejections… but with persistence and faith it all worked out. WOOHOO!!
Congrats, @Ginamarie119 !! Canterbury is an awesome school!!
Thanks so much @PhotographerMom. We are hopeful for a great experience!
I am so happy to see that so many of the students getting called about being taken off the waitlist are those who did not original acceptances. I do believe that the waitlist vs acceptance pile is a fair bit of luck, because to be waitlisted the student still has to be someone the school wants to admit. I want to wish a congratulations to all of those coming off the waitlist!
Hi @Qingnan !! Congratulations! Do you have any tips for getting admitted off the waitlist at Deerfield? I am currently waitlisted there and I’m kinda desperate to get in because I have nowhere else to go. I’m a domestic, Asian student who gets straight A’s, plays piano and volleyball, and does debate. I recently withdrew from applying for financial aid. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you!
@alyang I know that you didn’t ask me, but I can provide some insight. Firstly, nearly nobody gets off of boarding school waitlists. Yes, it sucks. To be honest, there’s not much that you can do. You can write a kind email to your admissions officer letting them know that you really want to go, you can email them about any recent accomplishments or awards you’ve won. It really depends on who they need. If they don’t get a student that they accepted who was going to be their star oboe player, then they will look through the waitlist pool for a good oboe player.
@Quingnan So happy for you. DA is a great school. You used skill and luck. Congrats to Quingnankid!
@alyang Call Admissions and let them know DA is your top choice and if admitted you will attend!
Thank you @Nico.campbell !! I wrote them a handwritten letter a few weeks ago about how much I liked Deerfield and what I liked about them and I just wrote them an email about my recent accomplishments. Hopefully, they need a good debater, pianist, and/or volleyball player. Again, thank you so much for your advice!
@alyang my advice is to be very specific. In your email (or phone call) to them, say that you have not signed a contract with another school and that you would accept the spot immediately if accepted. This is important. Just saying that you love DA doesn’t give the AO the information that they need. They already know that you’re a great kid and are very accomplished. They have your application, so they know what you can contribute. What they want to know is who is still on the WL that would accept their offer?
Good luck @alyang !
Thank you, everyone, for your advice!! I appreciate it very much.
INFORMATION ABOUT DEERFIELD WAITLIST: they are going to their waitlist for tenth grade girls (don’t ask me how I know; I’d rather not get specific in case AOs are lurking lol) @mtmtmt1227 @alyang
Hope that means good news for one of you Deerfield hopefuls!! :))
@Andoverhopeful9 do you foresee any movement on exeter’s waitlist or take it as a soft rejection? I need to make a decision on summer/fall plans in less than 2 weeks.
