The Who's Who of Cornell ED 2010!

the essay writing being in the past thing really was never so complicated. it was refering to the fact that the application deadline has long passed so talking about how to write your essays now is a completely moot point, since presumably the essays have already been written.

guys, its not a huge issue...but just wonderin, since cornell is a distant reach, what about some of my other schools..... honesty is a virtue, as long as it is backed up with objectivity and factual information....i'll repost my stats....thanks,i'm very interested in your views

The Ohio state ( well already accepted honors, but not really feelin it)
Case Western ( live 20 mile from cleveland, also not a top choice)
Bos U ( love business program, love boston, social life also)
Bos Coll ( very impressed with it, but im a liberal atheist..problem?)
Tufts ( RD obviously, like 60% of their class is from ED..soo yeah)
Vanderbilt ( big fan)
Johns Hopkins ( going into economics there, if that helps at all)

SAT: 680m 670v 630 w
SAT II: 690 640 590
GPA: 3.84 UW
Rank: 28/ 822

Essays: unique
recs: pretty solid
EC's: average to decent...but nothing spectacular
..... hopefully my character level and self confidence will help..but mayb im only saying that b/c my scores are too low... who knows...

plz comment on chances .......thank you, and i will be checking up

Sounds like you might really like BU. Tufts doesn't have business, as you probably know. Tufts is the most difficult-to-get-into school on your list for kids at my son's school. Those that do go there sometimes comment that it is "too socially competitive." Might be just a midwestern thing, I don't know. Where are you from? And . . male or female? BC -- yes, it really helps if you're Catholic. Hopkins is intense. Vandy is fine for guys, can be a bit of a culture shock for non-Southern girls.

umm low socioeconomic white male from northeast ohio....very liberal...not catholic, am and atheist....if that helps at all.... hs is decent usually sends about 10 kids or so to top tier colleges....umm yeah thats bout it

ARE YOU SERIOUS!! IS THAT TRUE??!! WHY WOULD YOU SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT! MY LIFE IS COMING TO A CLOSE.

I hope the "low socioeconomic" thing comes through on your applications. Colleges recognize that admissions are often tilted toward the affluent, and some are trying to remedy this.

ummm actually i didnt say much about my financial situation....its somtin ive dealt w/ my entire life... i really dont wanna use it as a crutch...not somtin id feel comfortable w/...but i see what you mean... thanks for your comments SuNa.......
does anyone have anthing to add about my chances
use a 1- 10 scale for each school.....thanks i'll b back to check on them

no such thing as crutches in the college admission game. you didn't play ur hand, now your just like the other 20,000 applicants, unless u have some extraordinary talent or achievements- ur an average applicant. underepresented people-socioeconomically disadvantaged, and any race, is highly saught after.

point well taken...there is obvious merit to what you've just said....but i dont want to get into a college b/c ive had it a little rougher than some ppl financially....that's not me..and that's not who i am....i'll let the game beat me, i have to play it my way.......... i dunno, i know it sounds dumb, but thats just the way i want it to be...but abike11, i do understand where you're comin from...
anyone else have anthing else to say?

i don't want to be a buzzkill but it'd be nice if this thread had stuff concerning who's who of cornell ed 2010...not "what are my chances?" etc. etc.

It does, actually.

um...maybe if you read the previous pages you'd see there's a growing amount of side comments and discussion about whether a certain person's stats will get them in...just wanted to keep this thread on topic.
