The Yale Requirements

Well Columbia is famed for its core, but what are Yale's requirements (it seemed a little ambiguous on the website) and why is it better or worse compared to Columbia's core?

Yale has a less strict set of requirements than Columbia, which is famous for its strict requirements. The Yale system recently changed; the class of 2009 and beyond have a different setup than did the class of 2008 and prior classes.

Essentially, Yale requires you to take 3 classes (2? I can't remember) in each of these groups: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. It also requires 3 (or 2) classes in each of these groups: Quantitative Reasoning, Writing Intensive, and Foreign Language.

They can't overlap (e.g., a class that counts for your humanities requirement cannot also count for your writing intensive requirement).

Hope that helps.

We have to fulfill credit requirements in the the Areas:
Humanities- 2
Sciences- 2
Social Sciences- 2
and the Skills:
Foreign Language- at least 1
Quantitative Reasoning- 2
Writing- 2.
There are also, obviously, major requirements.
