Hey CC, I wanted to know if there is a thing like theoretical research. I don’t have access to too many labs (trying to ask a nearby college if I can volunteer for second name) but I want to show to colleges that I have a passion for biology. My other options would be to do a psychological paper or base my study off of plants. So I guess my questions are:
Is theoretical research (paper) a thing?
What type of research would be best for a lab-less highschooler?
I think it would be hard to do research if you don’t have a qualified person supervising you (whether or not you’re using a lab). Have you looked into summer research programs?
Yeah, I was looking at Stonybrook’s 4 Week Guided Research Program, but I wouldnt be able to write papers in it… I guess another question I have is also “Is research just enough or does a paper have to be written to back it up?”
Going to a recognized program would be more impressive than just writing something on your own (since the admissions counselors wouldn’t have a way to judge its quality).
But what if I got it published somewhere, like online research database or something?
