I've received about a dozen of these emails. They are the "Corrected FAFSA SAR Results" emails. Even though I've cleared all of the blue bubbles, the body of the email says this:

Your Correction to your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has been processed and the data will be made available to the school(s) listed on your corrected FAFSA. The financial aid office at your school will contact you if additional information is required.

Your Student Aid Report (SAR), which contains a summary of your FAFSA information, is now available for you online. Review your SAR as soon as possible. There are issues with the information you provided that must be resolved before your application can be processed or before your Financial Aid Administrator can determine if you are eligible for federal student aid. Your SAR will provide specific information about these issues and what you need to do.

Use the link below to view your SAR. You can select the link or copy the entire link and paste it into the address or location line of your Web browser. Make sure you copy and paste the entire link; it may appear on multiple lines.

What does this mean? What do I do now? I've done this EIGHT times. There are no more blue "resolve this!" bubbles.

Have you called them? I have found the operators to be very helpful, although not always accurate. Sometimes it’s good to call twice to make sure they’ve got their answers straight.

I called FAFSA, and they are extremely helpful.

Anyway, I kept receiving the error email because of the automatic 0. I didn’t have to fill anything out after my mom’s information, so I never entered my gender. I wasn’t registered as female, so it pinged me for the Selective Service. However, this wasn’t labeled as an error on the application itself, so I never noticed it.

Skipping the gender question is a big problem on this year’s FAFSA. Did you go back in & put in your gender? Make sure you do. We are requesting that our female students do that … if they don’t, we will end up requiring copies of drivers license, birth certificate, or passport to prove gender. Unfortunately, we’ll have no choice once we begin processing for next year for those FAFSAs not corrected by that time.

The gender and selective service can create a problem.

Someone posted about this a few weeks ago for with lots of responses from others with similar concerns…are you under 18?
Check the “register box” anyone- unless you are making a protest of sorts…
