These APs too rigorous for junior year?

I go to one of the most difficult schools in NJ, and I’m worried about my schedule for next year. I’m taking APUSH AP bio AP gov AP micro AP macro AP lang, Spanish honors and drawing honors.
I’ve heard awful things about students from the APUSH class, because we have to read 14 chapters over the summer, get a new book when school starts, get tested every 2 weeks on the summer info, while getting tested every week on the new info.
also, apush and ap bio require the most reading, so…yeah.
I think i might have to drop one of my classes, but i dont know which one to drop :(

im a junior and im currently taking the following classes
AP Chemistry
AP English Literature and Composition
AP Calculus BC
AP European History
Honors Latin IV
Honors Environmental Science and Public Policy
Honors Physics

in terms of AP’s, i found this year to be manageable
then again, i find science and math classes to come easily to me, so i guess i may not spend as much time as others do on calculus bc and chemistry
i took the calculus bc exam and english literature and composition exam, and both were pretty easy

english language is almost identical to the english literature exam, so to answer your question, calc ab is obviously easier than calc bc (although the curve isnt as lenient), so to answer your question, i think you should be fine.

ap chemistry and ap biology complement each other, but you will have to learn a bit more bio if you have not had any previous courses

other than that im most worried about your APUSH class
my only AP last year was APUSH and i thought last year was significantly harder than this year

remember, challenge yourself but dont exhaust yourself with classes that you dont really want to take. if college is your motivation, then they wont be too happy when your grades are as high as they could be, especially if you wish to pursue the scientific field and dont get straight A’s in those classes.

@dolee12

you’re taking six AP’s next year?
that’s just absolutely ridiculous
i understand AP gov and APUSH together. they definitely go hand and hand
but AP Biology is not the easiest course to have, especially for someone who seems to be more of a humanities type of person.
AP micro and macro may complement each other as well, although i cant speak from experience
AP English Language and Composition is supposed to be a difficult course as well, so i dont know how you’re going to manage to do all these classes, while also doing other activities.

IMO, i’d drop ap bio and/or ap english language, because they seem to be the only two that don’t go hand and hand with another ap course you’re taking and they are a LOT of work

okay, so i think that doubling AP science is a bad idea, just considering the amount of time required for each individually. if you chose another AP to substitute for bio or chem (like a social science class [AP human geo, AP gov, AP language, etc.]), i’d say this is fine. i took five APs and it’s not that that that hard (didn’t take two sciences in the same year though), as long as you manage your time well.

Bio is a hard class but not AP test

If you have done similar work soph year, go ahead. Otherwise, if you think you can handle it, go ahead. Try speaking with your counselor if not, I’d probably drop one of the Sciences/APUSH and take Calc BC instead, or take Spanish V AP

yeah, i agree with bobtheboy that bio is a hard class, but the test isn’t hard, which is annoying…i’d drop that one if i had to choose.

Regarding bio being a hard class but easy exam, I agree. But the difficulty of the class completely depends on the teacher. For example, this year, our teacher only lectured a couple of times in any given span of two weeks. Furthermore, she hardly gave us any assignments (we probably turned in about 10-20 assignments throughout the whole 180-day school year), she has health issues and missed a lot, and overall wasn’t dedicated. She’s a wonderful person, and a good teacher, but things just happened at the wrong time. My point is that in some cases, depending on the teacher, the class isn’t all that bad either. You just need to make sure you keep up with the reading and such, otherwise you’ll get behind and be cramming for the exam at the end of the year. The exam itself is rather simple if you paid any attention in your course. :)

i would take out Bio and spanish out. your have SATs to worry about
