Saw that earlier. Don’t like where my school is on the list at all.
Wow… maybe I should consider an all girl school. It scares me that it seems because of how often that sexual assaults happen some seem to just accept it as part of the culture. No this is terrible! There are some really respectable schools on there and i’m surprised we haven’t heard more about this.
So many cases involve young men and women being drunk beyond reasonable. Perhaps helping young people making better choices about how much they drink would help reduce the frequency of these incidents. It is such a painful lose lose situation. Every college student should read Missoula, no matter how painful story that it is.
The Stanford incident has brought the spotlight on rape/assault culture prevalent in our colleges. It is really shocking and scary to see so many reputed colleges featuring in that list!

I’m really glad that my school is near the bottom with only 2 out of 17,000 people. However, 2 rapes is still too many…
There is a difference between actual rapes and reported rapes. Those lower on the list may have as many actual rapes, more of which go unreported.
Yeah, I think reporting could even be the driving factor in many cases: Look at Brown - in that culture, I suspect that it isn’t that there are significantly more rapes, but that there is a culture that supports victims and allows them to come forward.
Something is off about these numbers. I know for a fact that U of M had more reported rapes than that in 2014 because the place where I volunteered reported more than 14 rapes. I’m on my phone and the data website isn’t mobile friendly so I’m not sure what constituted a rape report.
With that said, I can’t echo those above enough.
