Make sure you budget for your car insurance....

I can't drive yet. I just got my permit, and will probably get my license in the summer. I don't know if I'll be comfortable driving this year, so I'll probably bring a car my jr/sr years when I live off campus. Plus, I like biking and it will help prevent me from gaining the dreaded freshman 15, haha.

^Fantastic idea! hahaha the freshmen 15 is truly an epidemic.

Do a lot of people gain weight? I'm kind of worried because I'm happy with my weight now, but if I leave home I'll probably go out of control on desserts and fried foods, haha. I also read somewhere that people even gain 45 pounds.

Hahaha well my roommate and I purchased a scale week 1, and we have not gained weight. Plus we work out regularly. The problem is the dining halls have literally all the terrible food you could ever want, and every single day. People come to college and aren't used to the abundance of fried food. So they're like, sweet! In addition it's hard to find the time to go to the gym, esp. during the middle of the quarter. But yeah I've seen a tonnnnn of people gain freshie 15 and most of my friends from home. it's not a rumor. hahaha. sorry, thread hijack done!

I guess my bike will become my best friend, haha.
Thanks for all the info you provided! I'm so excited right now!

ugh is the food really that bad and terrible at ucsd?
the menu on the dinning site seems pretty good..

How close is SDSU? And, about what percent of the UCSD students surf?

TNEsaid: no, the food is good! that is why people gain the freshman 15!

ninjashayna: SDSU is about a 20/25 minute car drive, depending on traffic. It's not close. There are a lot of surfers at UCSD.

love that pic, though my limit's set at waist-high. the last time i attempted a chest-high wave, i landed myself in the ER.

Do the schools have free access Gyms? :)

yeah ... they take $$$ out of everyone's tuition for that.

Are there scuba diving and surf classes offered by the school?

^and also how much do they cost?
and will I actually have time to do anything like that?

You can ask this -- better still explore the entire campus on April 4 or another visit. So many questions, i know....

I can't visit until my spring break. I just got a rush of excitement, haha. It has induced me to come up with the most random questions. So while I wait to visit, I'll ask my questions here!

googling instead of asking would probably net you faster results.

recreation.ucsd.edu answers both your questions.

oh, haha.
thanks.
