Ann Arbor is a darling little college town. Especially your first year or two. UW has much of that....the Ave. bordering one side of the school is eclectic/hip/Berkeley-ish in feel. University Village borders the other side. Has everything from Starbucks to bookstores to deli's and retail shopping--Apple, J Crew, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, and great Husky sports bar. As an added bonus, get on a bus, drive 10 min., and you have world class shopping, sports, restaurants, music venues..all in one of the most beautiful downtown areas I've ever seen. UW has a great college town feel...with a LOT more nearby.

I have no idea what those numbers are at the beginning of my post. Please ignore!

nbg-that is funny! Just curious about USC being mentioned a bit- (Son went to UCLA).
Do a lot of Seattle kids go to USC or are there a lot of USC transplants in Seattle? We ourselves are Bruin/now Husky fans! Loved Husky basketball this season! LOL

any1can- my family has lived in seattle 15 years now- we hate USC ;) (my parents went to UCSD and UCLA med) haaha. They have titled USC " the most overrated school ever"

Yeah we hate USC too:)

We had a huge group apply to USC this year. I think it is getting more and more popular here with kids that want to go out of state. The UC's used to be really hard to get into..will be interesting to see this year. I know our counselors urge the UC applicants to consider UW over them due to size and OOS costs (one of our counselors is from LA), they feel UW is very comparable.
