Hi, I'll be staying in MIT for this summer :)
Could you tell me some fun thing I can do/visit/etc?
I'll appreciate specific details! Thanks~

If you can, try to get meetings with amazing professors and ask them about their life paths and advice.

I would explore Boston which has lots of things to do. I would also recommend exploring MIT’s campus particularly MIT’s more architecturally interesting buildings like Stata, the Media Lab, and Brain and Cognitive Science.

^Is the Hack Museum in Stat Center now? I would recommend that.

I think the OP also is looking for non-MIT places to explore in the Boston area. Off the top of my head, Martha’s Vineyard is nice.

The Freedom Trail takes you around to many of Boston’s more interesting historical places and is a nice walk on a good summer day. You don’t have to do it all in a day. There is no fee for it as the “trail” is basically a stripe down the sidewalk. Some of the places to stop at are free while others do charge a modest fee.

Boston harbor has many islands within it. Several are part of the national park system. There is an old fort out on one (or more?) of the islands. The boat ride costs money. Take a picnic lunch and make a day of it. You can just relax out there.

If you want to go out beyond just Boston, the coast of Maine is interesting as is Cape Cod.

The White Mountains in New Hampshire offers a lot of things to see right along the road. It also has many miles of hiking trails and the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) hut system. The huts are hike in only (except the headquarters) and need to booked far in advance. You carry a sleeping bag liner and your personal stuff and they provide dinner and breakfast as well as a bunkhouse to stay the night. An experience you won’t forget. Some huts are quite a hike to and others not so much. The Lonesome Lake Hut is about a 3.5 mile hike if I remember right. My wife and I did it with our kids when they were quite small. We spent two nights there and enjoyed swimming in the lake during the full day there.
