I don’t remember who suggested the door stop, but thank you! It was so helpful for move-in, plus I think my daughter and her roommate use it to be more welcoming to others in their building.
I confess to buying EVERYTHING (except condoms) when I dropped DS off at the dorm. I told him, if he finds that he needs something, check the dorm trunk first. . Regarding the meds, be sure to remind your student that Nyquil already has pain/fever medicine and not to double dose with a separate medicine.
@IBviolamom , it may have been me. I’m glad the doorstop came in handy for you b/c when I bought it (after seeing it on a list elsewhere), my daughter asked why she would need something like that. And I told her…for moving in, as well as maybe later if you want to keep your door open. Alas, we got to the dorm on move in day and her door stays open completely on its own. And I got the old “I told you so” from her. So I put it back in my own suitcase and will save it for when S goes to college in two years.
I was very glad for the recommendations to have a first aid/medicine kit. D already needed to open the bottle of Motrin I packed for her.
Pretty much all the cleaning supplies (brush/broom, Clorox wipes, dish soap…) I sent with my son in August came home in May untouched. LOL. At least I was able to put them to use.
A doorstop is part of all the grad gifts I give to my friends’ kids. It was important for my D, whose door did not stay open on its own. As a first year she was near the floor lounge so met lots of kids with her door open.
