They're pulling me away from rewriting my college essay. XD
I think I like to work under the pressure and the deadline. . .

LiveJournal. Writing fanfiction. LiveJournal. I keep going and checking my e-mail though I know there's nothing in there. :/ I have only one essay left - why can't I just do it? pulls out hair

Procrastination is the Devil and Facebook is his playground.

i actually enjoy answering the non-generic questions..i really don't like the "why x college?" ....COME ON! we worked our asses off to get into these colleges and that's the best question they can ask us?
[/quote]

I can't think of a more specific question than that. What's the difference between H, P, and Y? Of course they want to know why you want to be there.

Your answer to that simple question tells them whether you grok the college: Does your personality fit what they want to emphasize? Are you looking for what they offer? Have you spent some time finding out what makes them tick and whether it also makes you tick? ... Or are you applying based on the name, location, or other superficial characteristics that could be met at half a dozen other schools?

And your answer helps them figure out the answer to another important question: Will you be happy, successful, and a positive contributor at the college?

See, they're not trying to screw around with you; they're just trying to find out what you want and whether you'll get it at their college. Because if you won't, then it's better for both you and them if you move on to another college.

Greek mom has said some of the smartest words I've read on this forum.

I've been checking myspace and facebook a lot lately... I just posted a blog on myspace about how stressful applications are, actually... And I'm thinking of changing my profile a bit. I've been watching a lot more movies than normal and browsing around here a bit more than normal, too.

i swear facebook was made specifically for procrastination...and of course its part of the devil's work..
ALOT of youtube..
and alot of pacman online...

DRESS ME

hahaha i wish i had seen this thread a few days ago!! i spent all my time on facebook, myspace, aim, reading for fun (something i havent had time to do for years... but apparently the last two weeks before apps are due was time enough :P), and on the CC forums feeling like a failure because the only threads I had seen are the ED acceptance ones and the ones where people spazzed over apps they finished weeks ago. -___-

I thank my high school English teacher for making college essay an mandatory assignment with a test-grade equivalence and having the due date in November. It forced me to sit down and write something because the fear of flunking English was greater than the need to procrastinate. I wish more English teachers would do that.

Rationalizing applying to less schools. My list has been diminished dramatically. Though I don't know whether that is because I have made to conscious choice to do so, or because I fear the possible rejections that go in hand with completing the essays.

I also do more searching, for schools that is. And finally: organizing and cleaning.

Anyone else play World of Warcraft? Yeah, that delayed the completion of my apps.

Mine did that in October, but then I decided I didn't like my essay anymore. I liked the idea of it, but it had zero voice and seemed a bit forced at times, so I scrapped it.

@ MissStefani - Yep, same. I was originally going to use it, but when I wrote another essay, I felt the second was much better. So basically the first was useless (except as practice, I guess).

Yeah, I'm attempting to work on that second one now... Only apparently it's not working, since I'm posting here instead :P

@You two above me: I totally abhor the idea of numerous edits... I feel that sometimes, even when my friends tell me some part is unclear, I might prefer it my unclear way--just to keep some uniqueness. After numerous edits, I don't feel that the work is mine anymore ><

Fiona: Me too! Sometimes I'll end up going back to the original - I'll really only edit if I feel the advice is very relevant.

But yeah, I was talking about COMPLETELY rewriting the essay. Which is what I did... new topic and all.
