thinking about engineering major

hey all,

i am currently a high school student who will be attending college soon and i have been thinking about majoring in engineering. My strong areas in school have always been in math and science and i thought that this would be a natural choice but i would like to make sure that my career options are not limited by choosing this a major in college. I am not sure that i want to be an engineer at all but i am almost sure that whatever job i do want it will involve math and science. If i major in engineering will my career options be open? Could i for example still become a mathematician , physicist, doctor, quantitative analysts( for like a hedge fund or something like that) , bond trader or something else. My friends have told me that majoring an engineering leaves a lot of career paths open and i just wanted to know what those career paths could be besides becoming an engineer.

thank you for your time

Yes you can be anything really. You can start your undergrad with Biomedical engineering for example and still become a medical doctor. You just need to apply to med school after that. Other fields include, dental, pharmacy, law, mathematician, physicist, professor and soooo much more.

You can also go the other way. For example, I know a number of physics majors who get work or advanced degrees in engineering.
