This book is sick -- "The Overachievers"

lol o man I'm watching it now, it's great. When he mentioned Bush's approval rating, I could just hear the audience being like "Oh $|-|!7" under their breath

hahahahahah "The last third is usually back wash".

I love that he's not afraid to look right at Bush as he says stuff too. I love Colbert now...ok back to the vid.

O DAYAM "Obviously loves his wife...call's her his better half...and polls show America agrees". OOOOOO lol

and the part about rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. daaaaaayam lol

wow and the iceburg thing

and he definitely did the "eff you" symbol to the justice when he started doing that hand movement (the first thing he did with his hands)

lol yep...

ok people, it might be long, but definitely watch it...it is amazing lol. Go Colbert!

I just watched the Colbert interview online a few minutes ago. It was pretty funny. I would actually like to hear more of what she has to say...Colbert didn't let her speak too much. I'll definately read her book if I can get my hand on it.

Haha, we read that in my AP Lang class as an example of satire. It was awesome.

I just watched it for the first time. I LOVED the Helen Thomas part at the end, haha.

wow, I'm definitely going to read that book even though the first chapter was pretty scary... (I liked pledged even though it also scared me).

Oh my GOSH!!!!!!!
IM going to whitman high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg!!!

wow. well that explains your personality. hahaha. i liked the comment in the first chapter where the kid goes.....

University of Chicago? That's not an ivy league. It's a safety school, right?

AHAHA!

I read the first chapter online last night. I do think it's sick, and I do think it's true. Sorry to take the Marxist approach here, but I think there are going to be some serious changes to the American college education system in the next 20 years. Capitalist competition has gone too far!

chriscap...do u mean sick as in
a.) bad, disgusting, terrible

or

b.) cool, really good.

because i generally use it in the second context, it's a slang term for "good" around here.

wait, so is this fiction or based on real people? cuz some people said they know the characters in the book....or so they say

of course it's fiction, real life isn't exciting.

green day, sick as in sad. sorry to confuse you, gangsta-speak isnt big in ma neck-o-da-woods.

sun_surf, it is based on real people.

how do you put sick in a sentence and make it mean: cool. it makes no sense.

Youy can't say: S/he is so sick! about someone you think is cool.

Quote 1: of course it's fiction, real life isn't exciting.

Quote 2: sun_surf, it is based on real people.

so based one those two quotes, the answer to my question is: it's fiction but based on real people.....hmmmm interesting

its called REALISTIC FICTION.

"wow genious" is what im going to say

realistic fiction doesn't sound that bad.
