what exactly do we do when we arrive a few days before classes begin? does anyone know if its just ice-breaking, on campus activities, or is there more to it than that?

For my year we went through a series of assemblies of varying quality, from down right dull to entertaining on topics such as diversity, alcohol and sex. Some were required and some were optional. We also had to meet up in small groups to talk about what we just learned in the assemblies. Most of your time will be free, however. It's a very good time to be had, because everyone's new, a tad insecure and eager to meet new people.

It was not a time for studying.

Bteween great weather, young emotions, and a Bruce Springsteen concert, the first few days were an event. I only wish the rest of my "Grinnell Experience" was so much fun. It was fun, but not so much fun as that weekend.
