This is BIG news!! CollegeBoard Simplifying requests for testing accommodations

https://www.collegeboard.org/releases/2016/college-board-simplifies-request-process-for-test-ccommodations?ep_ch=PR&ep_mid=11326141&ep_rid=192842628

This seems to be in line with the updated ADA regulations that can be found here:

http://www.dyslexicadvantage.org/dyslexia-and-accommodations-new-ada-guidelines-2016-for-school-and-work/

https://www.ada.gov/regs2014/testing_accommodations.pdf

https://www2.ed.gov/policy/speced/guid/idea/memosdcltrs/guidance-on-dyslexia-10-2015.pdf

And many colleges are also loosening up on requirements for updated testing when the student is requesting accommodations if the documentation for the students’ disability and accommodations is pretty recent and the students accommodations are in place and used in school.
Finally!!

Surprising not to see any comments. This is a big step forward.

Wish the GRE would do something similar.

Glad to see the collegeboard doing this.

I was going to say the same thing about the GRE!

@jym626, Thanks for posting this. It’s a huge step forward.

Does anyone know if homeschoolers are considered private schools or do we have to make the request through our local school district? We never asked for an IEP or 504 plan because we wanted to maintain control over our daughter’s education, but we have 2 sets of neuropsych test results. How are we supposed to get the accommodations she needs?

The first link gives examples and includes the GRE. Hopefully they too will jump on board.

I am hopeful this is good news for D regarding the CPA exam.

GRE wants new documentation (less than 12 months old) for any psychiatric disorder. It’s a lot of hoops, way more than getting accommodations for nursing boards, even.

The GRE process was excruciating.
