Not an alum, but what difference does it make? It is what it is now. I have a friend whose kid pledged Zete its first year, then withdrew, as did the president, I believe. FWIW, the word was that they were being pressured by either alums of national to engage in hazing and other unsavory things.

Had a rep for being tightknit nerdy nice guys- like a nerdier AXA.

i see. because i have heard that they got kicked out for some sexist newsletter, so i automatically assumed that they were more a-side than b-side before.

It wasn’t a “sexist newsletter.” It was a guide detailing how to date rape a girl.

i was informed that it was “satire.” a very crude one. so no one remembers if it was ragey?

^I heard they used to be ragey, but they were never an AD/Psi U/TDX kind of frat.

Alright, thanks for the input. btw, are you affiliated DartmouthForever?

Nowadays, Zete and Sig Nu reportedly draw from roughly the same population.

I would not hold the actions of people 10 years ago against those in the house now. Get to know the guys who are brothers now, rather than depending on stereotypes and the “wisdom” of bored@baker.

DartmouthForever - it was not “a guide detailing how to date rape a girl.” Please get your facts straight and read the D with a larger grain of salt. The wording that got Zete in trouble was a promise to publish “Brother [X’s] patented guide to date rape” in a forthcoming issue. I should add that no such guide was ever published.

I would also take issue with Slipper’s characterization.

OP - I am a Zete '08, i.e. from the derecognized (and later the dark) period. If you have something specific you’d like to know, feel free to PM me.

edit I took another look at the thread and realized that I should add that I also take issue with Consolation’s characterization of why people withdrew. Wild rumors are being thrown around this thread like they are going out of style.

Xanatos, I’m only telling you what the parent of a kid from the '12 class who withdrew told me. The parent is a D alum and alum of another house, and has a generally favorable and, I think, realistic view of Greek organizations there. He also told me that HIS former house had had a problem at one point with the local alum advisor, and that the other alums basically had to tell him to leave the kids alone. So if it happened it isn’t unique to Zete.
