This is my ONLY shot to go to school, what are my chances?!

Graduated HS in 06...been out of school 4 years dying and taking every route possible to go to college because family wouldn't assist me and I've been working low-wage jobs for the most part just trying to make ends meet. I'm 21 now and I think I finally have my shot.

Applied for freshman year Spring 2011 Accounting program. GPA is 85 (unweighted of course), class rank is 45/549 (top 7%) SAT is 630 math 620 english 620 writing. SAT II's are 660 US history and 630 Spanish. I had 7 AP's and 1 college course my senior year, and like 4 other ap courses the other years, so about 11 altogether. #African American Student

Which college are you applying to? It really depends on which schools, because different schools have different standards.

This is by no means your only shot at going to college. People twice your age enroll in their local community colleges every single year, and the most dedicated among them continue on to complete an A.A., then a bachelor’s degree, and often even a graduate degree.

If you aren’t admitted at Baruch, make an appointment with the admissions officer at your closest community college and ask what you need to do in order to enroll there.
