I recently discovered this website.

I've been reading people's entries (especially on this "What are my chances" threads) and I find this whole thing really pitiful.

I mean, ok, I understand all you guys are stressed and concerned with going to great schools.
But I just don't see any points in listing your "profile" and asking everyone's opinion on whether you will be accpeted to this school or that school. I hate to break it up to you but nobody knows. And college admission processes are somewhat random as well. I've seen many of my friends with near perfect "profile" fail to be admitted to prestigous universities. There are more to college admission process than mere numbers and long lists of ECs.

Just Remeber that there are thousands and thousands of people just like you (great numbers and long lists of ECs) if not better. I'm not saying I'm perfect. I'm just saying you guys should stop wasting your time (listing your "profile" or what not) and maybe think more about your college applications. And also most importantly, college isn't the end of the road, guys. Don't get too caught up in worrying over which colleges you will get into, spending numerous hours in front of computer, typing your "profile" and waiting for others to reply (I'm referring to those "bump" things- I believe to put their threads to first page where others can more readily access them?). Going to great schools don't equal success and making lots of $$$ (I'm assuming most of you want to go to good schools to live a better life, which I think is a valid assumption).

I just want to add I'm also a senior at high school this year (heh, my response kind of sounds like I'm a counselor or some sort of that kinds). I'm suggesting maybe with that time in hands to type and visit this website, you guys can read books or do something productive. This is just flat out pointless. What if someone say you will get into all those schools according to your "profile." What if millions of people agree with that? What if in reality, you don't get accepted to those schools? Who's right? We know the schools make the final decision. So, the quesiton is nobody knows whether you are in or not until the decision is out. Millions or even billions of people asserting that you will get into certain schools don't guarantee $#!+. It's probably the best way to get really really depressed (not getting into certain school although everyone you virtually talked to (whether online or in real life) said you will get in for sure). Confidence is good. But in this case, it can either break you or build you. This is luck of a draw. Everyone, welcome to the game. You'd been playing this game ever since you remeber.

Take it or leave what I have written. I just felt the need to point this out (wow, I was suprised that some sophomores and juniors were asking for their admission to certain schools...even freshmen...gosh...get a grip and have some fun).
