This Is Us. Anyone watching?

Soooo- what did he say to Malik?

@mominva Yes, the ending!!! The writing on this show continues to draw me in.

I was trying to remain vague to avoid spoilers.

I get that they are going to have to work around Mandy Moore being pregnant, but Iā€™m not entirely sure that was the whole reason for moving the season opener up to this week instead of 2 weeks from now. That episode had some pretty powerful seeds to plant in our heads. And the unexpected ending - wow!

I was also impressed with how they wove in scenes weā€™d already seen previously. The ending leaves me with a lot of questions.

I wonder how much of what was going to happen this season has now been changed by the writers including covid and BLM into the mix.

Randall said something about how the family did not discuss racism or allow him to process previous incidents of killing of black men. There was an death of a black man in Pittsburgh when he was a teen and he had to process that alone which was a lot for him. Of course, this comes back in his conversation with Kate and also when he decides he needs a different therapist.

Really good episode and interesting to see how they wove both Covid and the killing of George Floyd into the episode. Also seemed sort of true to life that things between Kevin and Randall were not immediately OK but that they are hopefully moving in a good direction. Surprising twist at the end and look forward to see where that will go.

Its good to have new episodes of something other than game shows. This is Us is very well written. How they weave in and out of the past, present and future is fun to watch. And you know you can always count on plenty of head fakes along the way.

The best line was Randall saying that Beth has turned into Dr. Fauci.

I liked the episode. You know they had to do a lot of ā€œpivotingā€ with the storyline and I feel like they did a good job. The ending was quite surprising. Did William know? Did he lie to Randall too? I like this version of Kevin.

SO, I assume that the writers had already had scripts ready to go and then they pivoted with thepandemic. Did they just throw out those scripts? Or maybe the underlying story lines still were executed (Randall came to the cabin, just under different circumstances than originally written).

It will be helpful to see the flash forwards so we can see how this whole pandemic thing ends LOL.

I cried.
I loved the crossing paths of Randall and William in the hospital.
And the ending!!! What??
So good.

Hated the ending. Just hated it.

I think you mean William and Jack at the hospital. Loved the episode, and wonder if they would have Laurel (Randallā€™s mother) live. We already had William show back up in Randallā€™s life, would the writers do this again?

The writers will do just about anything! Some of the storylines have been quite interesting but you kind of have to go with the flow with some of it as sometimes things seem too coincidental or hard to believe.

My head spins with some of the location jumps and how people from different locations seem to converge at a momentā€™s notice in a location. And where the heck is this cabin? The family is originally from Pittsburgh , and I believe Randall lives in NJ now. Yet, his daughter says the cabin is 1 1/2 hours from their current home and Randall is able to get in a car and get there with little notice. I may have this all wrong though about where everybody lives !

But, I still really like the show.! And love Kevin!

Randall moved to Philadelphia last year

Thanks @deb922 . Now I remember that. Iā€™m still confused though about what cabin would be 1 1/2 hours from Philadelphia. It just seems pretty unlikely that a Pittsburgh family would have a cabin that they go to regularly that is close to Philadelphia. Iā€™m from Pittsburgh -The usual suspect locations for a family type cabin would more likely be the Laurel Highlands, Conneaut Lake, Deep Creek Maryland, places in West Virginia, etc. My husband agrees! Iā€™m clearly over thinking this!

I also did not like the ending, I feel like the writers are working too hard to try to come up with all of these twists that top what they did before that itā€™s getting to be a bit too much.

I think the writers forget how big Pennsylvania is!

I have one kid one one side of the state and the other on the completely opposite side. Itā€™s a really big state. They arenā€™t in Connecticut for instance lol!

It reminded me of a classic soap opera move.

Ken Olin went to University of Pennsylvania. He knows the state. Remember, thirtysomething took place in Philly.
