Correction, @abasket. On Fallon, a week ago, she said portions of the last episodes were filmed 3 years ago, not 6 years ago. Watch starting around minute 3 Mandy Moore Threw Up After Reading the Scripts for the Final Episodes of This Is Us | Tonight Show - YouTube
I guess perhaps he wanted to get certain scenes in the can before the child actors grew up too much in the interval?
Yea, thatās what iām thinking. They really did get some great child actors for the show.
Iām a little disappointed that this weekās episode mostly had just Deja grandchild. updates. Iām hoping weāll learn more next week.
We couldnāt tell - so they did a good job!
I actually donāt think the two actresses look that much alike. Too bad they couldnāt just age the original Deja but maybe she wasnāt available.
I didnāt think they looked alike either.
At first we didnāt think it was the same actress but were trying to factor in aging. And she kinda sounded like her but not quite. And I felt like I hadnāt seen Deja in a while. So we werenāt sure at first.
Call me jaded but I still think it is a little hokey that Deja and Malik ended up together. (Although my parents started dating at 15 and 18, got married 3 years later, and have been happily married for 63 years. But neither were homeless or had a baby in high school which probably helped!)
That said, there is a lot of hokey in TIU, but I still still love the show!
In terms of the vast array of hokey things that have occured over 6 years, this ranks toward the bottom of the list for me.
Agreed. My neighbors married at 15 and 17 and are about to celebrate 46 years together.
Iām curious to know what Malik is doing, since all we heard about was how he is working all the time, but that was during the head-fake time that we thought perhaps Marcus was Dejaās boyfriend. I canāt even remember what Malik was studying at Harvard?
I donāt find Deja/Malik staying together nearly as unbelievable as him going to Harvard while supporting and caring for a child too. It will be interesting to learn more of that story.
If you could pick one hypothetical storyline (subset of characters) for a This Is Us spin-off, what would you choose?
Stated in the episode; he opened his own restaurant
I missed that also.
I was trying to figure out a job that a medical resident considered working more than them.
The Beth & Randall Pearson family - thereās a lot to work with there. His political career, her ballet school, the girls as they grow up and what their lives entail. The general relationship between Beth and Randall. And maybe (just maybe) during sweeps weeks some of the other Pearsonās could make cameo appearances. I think Iād watch.
I was thinking that Marcusā family might be a spinoff.
A black Pearsons is what I was thinking, but with Marcisā family. Like how they redid The Wonder Years.
Yes I thought I heard him say restaurant
As much as I adore the whole Randall Pearson family I donāt think Iād want a spin off because that would probably entail a certain degree of drama/conflict etc in the couple/family and I donāt want to see that!
