As my CCC student considers his UC and CSU transfer options, a lot of people have weighed in about choosing campuses that are transfer-friendly as far as housing, clubs, activities, age of students, etc. What was positive or negative about campus life for transfer students you know who have attended residential CSU's or UC's?

Well, this isn’t exactly what you asked but I do know someone who transferred from City College of San Francisco to UC Berkeley. He said that the transition from CC to the UC was a big shock academically and was probably similar to what some kids go through in transitioning from high school to college. He ultimately went to medical school and is a doctor now so things seem to have worked out well.

SNM, maybe you can post this question in each of the CSU and UC campus forums.

Thanks. You’re right, I was hoping for information on adjusting to life on a campus as a transfer. His getting admitted as a transfer prompted my friends’ stories about their own and others’ experiences feeling a part of a UC or residential CSU as a transfer or reentry student. He does know about UCB and UCLA since he knows people who have transferred there, but he won’t be joining them.

Krlilies, we ended up pouring over posts for individual campuses on another site, college ******* (Edited out but begins with p). A little tedious but a lot of information.
