Does anyone know if the results for the Washington&Jefferson+LKSOM have been released yet?
Does anyone know if the Rutgers Camden/RowanSOM BS/DO decisions have been sent out, and if not when they will be?
Hi everyone! Iād love your insight in choosing!! Please comment on this thread:
I will DM you.Thank you for all your inputs
Oh really, I was leaning towards NSU because I was mostly comparing the undergrad portion of the programs. At NSU thereās no required major but at NYIT they have a curriculum laid out for every semester so that you finish in 3 years. I reached out to a current student at NYIT who said she found meeting their academic requirements difficult althought thatās just one personās experience. I did like the idea of 4 years of undergrad better in considering the MCAT.
The majority of applicants to both BS/MD and BS/DO programs are ORMs.
Of course, all programs want to attract URMs (not ORMs). You will compete with other ORMs.
They care more about your GPA, Scores, ECs and related.
Not yet. But it has just been 9 days since the interview. Expecting it this week.
@Vicky2019 , I feel the same. I am techie by profession and my D was āvery clearā in Juniorā¦ no CS (or no Computer at all)ā¦ LOLā¦ Finally in the end of Junior/Senior , wants to try Medā¦ and thatās where she will goā¦
My role to (because of tech), provide data ā¦ analyze what could be pitfall and let her āown and live with itāā¦
BTW, I am NOT agreeing with opinion saying parents should leave the kids alone. I donāt think itās wrong for Parents to have discussion or suggests (but NOT force them to choose).
For allā¦ parents are āolderā/wiser (should be) for a reason. At 18 not everyone will make 100% and itās always good to have a sounding board (which the parents/guardians/wellwisher/coach/helper should be)
I have worked with students from broken family or busy familyā¦ and the kids (who i worked with) love secondary opinion or input. So i strongly disagree with the statement . Sure there are exceptions particularly among ORM but staying completely out may not work for everyone
IMO, I compare these discussions to be like āmarital discussions on an issueā (Can never be My way or High way)ā¦ JMHO
BTW @texaspg and @cheer2021 , agree and congrats on your kid ā¦ multiple ways to reach D
There is NO BSMD there.
Itās kind of an EA only with guarantee interview only.
Good school (My closest Friend Kid just enrolled into MD after SH BS degree).
My D got great package and admission (OOS for us) but she chooses other college.
Good luck with it.
I hope I am not opening up a long discussion by asking this question. I am just hoping for a simple response withoutā¦ but, if, because, since,ā¦ I just want a ranking without a lot of analysisā¦
I live on the west coast and am very familiar with the universities. If people ask me: rank these med schools starting from the top: UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Stanford. I would respond: Stanford, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside.
Now, I would like your help to rank these schools from the top for the east coast because I donāt know the east coast: SUNY Upstate, Stony Brook, AMC, NJMS.
What is your response? Thanks
Not in east coast but here is how USNews ranks them
Stonybrook, NJMS, SUNY, AMC (unranked)
I asked this question because I want to look at another angle and donāt want to look at US News ranking (just because AMC is not ranked does not mean it is a bad med school). I would like the east coast locals or people who know the east coast to share with me your thoughts. Thanks.
true. I checked texas school rankings and the oldest medical school in texas is not ranked. There are tens of thousands of graduates over the last 100 plus years from this school that probably saved millions of lives.
Interesting just wondering then why these schools are unrated from well known rating firm like USNews? Are there things they donāt do or compile wrt to schools that impacts rating?

Above is link to info about open houses, i found. We plan to visit on one of the college days from above. April 18th, may be.
Maybe if I am a president of an institution and the mission is to save lives, I may not be interested in a big company who judges me on how I am doing my job, or may be there are financial incentives, political reasons, competitiveness, etcā¦ who knows. I heard from a director of a med school said that their institution was unranked because they did not want to provide their data to an ranking organization. This is a complexed question!
thank you for your input
appreciate your reply. thank you!
Can you DM me please. Wanted to ask you a question . Somehow I canāt message you individually.
Thanks
I remember reading few years back that AMC doesnāt provide data to USNWR and thatās why itās unranked. Itās one of the oldest medical schools in the country and a decent school.
