Hi, what apps and formulas should I put into my TI84 for both the ACT & SAT? All I have right now is the quadratic formula in my programs. I saw these suggestions for formulas to put in my calculator on another thread:
[quote]
-Circumference of a circle
-Area of a circle
-Quadratic formula
-Slope
-Midpoint formula
-Distance formula
-Standard form of Conics, most importantly the parabola and Circle.

Any suggestions would be welcomed. I'm using the Barrons prep book, and there seems to be a lot of geometry on there (which I have forgotten pretty much all of it besides some basic aspects), so geometry formulas/apps would be very helpful.

I’ve never been a fan of using calculator “apps” or programs for the SAT; you shouldn’t need them if you understand them and why the formulas work. “Distance formula” is exactly the same as Pythagorean theorem.

If you want to save computation time, an alternative solution is simply to define a function, such as
f(x1,y1,x2,y2) := sqrt((x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2)

I’d only use it if I have to find the distance between points several times on a problem.

The SAT is a reasoning test. It tests your ability to solve the problem, not necessarily your knowledge on a subject. If you don’t know how to find slope without a calculator, you may be in trouble….
