Alright, so I am going into my sophomore year this fall - as an undergraduate at a Tier 2 school.

I did good enough to get accepted into top 100 ranked tier 1 schools.

I am just curious; Does it look better excelling and making great grades at a Tier 2 unranked regional university. Or would it look better making mediocre/ average grades at a top 100 tier 1 nationally ranked university.

I'm just afraid of transferring and then end up making worse grades and losing the good GPA at a tier 1 school, when I'm already doing very well at a tier 2.

Please let me know

I know for sure that excelling at a Tier 2 university is better than getting average grades at a tier 1 university if you’re going to graduate school.

I just didn’t know if employers (corporate level - fortune 500 companies) look at respectable schools rather than gpa and accomplishments while in a tier 2 college.

I don’t know either. They might be more impressed by a prestigious school. Might. Of course, tier 1 schools may also have more opportunities, internships, etc. I’m pretty sure the employers would prefer someone who has already had a lot of experience in their work. It’s also possible that competition at tier 1 schools is so fierce that you really can’t get anything, and in the end a tier 2 school would offer more opportunities. Etc, etc.

It’s…just a theory though.

This is a good question…would be curious to know opinions on it.
